Kelly Ayotte’s waning years in the US Senate did not heap glory on the Republican Party unless you mean John McCain’s version of it. That is not meant to be flattery. McCain’s ‘final days’ included spreading the debunked Clinton Campaign opposition research to the media to undermine the elected president (which the IG confirmed).

After McCain’s death, a reader wrote and asked, “Why in the hell haven’t you guys posted even ONE story about the passing of the great American hero, John McCain?!?!?!” (Punctation in original.) 

Hey, he asked.

I bear no ill will upon the dead nor his family. I pray for his soul, and my heart goes out to his friends and colleagues. People who knew him loved him and will miss him.

But whatever John McCain was in his younger life, his older self worked to destroy the very thing for which we assume he joined the military. That thing for which he is so often remembered.

His thinking it was the right thing to do does not make it so.

I appreciate his service to the country, but I do not appreciate many of the things he tried to do the country after that. I opposed them as a matter of principle, and I still do.

Kelly Ayotte ended up in McCain’s orbit, ruining what started as a promising career in the US Senate. Her first two years were fairly decent. Then it all went downhill. I feel confident she was predisposed to catching the Georgetown flu, which was inevitable (she was not our first choice). Had she stayed, she would have been more like Susan Collins than Rand Paul. And yeah, Collins was a deciding vote on at least one Trump Supreme Court Nominee, but what’s so great about having two of those RINO wildcards in the deck?

DC is filled with Rasputin’s, and spinless and unprincipled RINOs are easily swayed.

I can’t say Ayotte would be any better as governor. She’s the chosen replacement for Sununu, which is a bad sign. She has a lot of history in the Concord swamp as John Lynche’s AG and in the DC swamp on corporate boards. She knows where bodies are buried—she’s one of them, not one of us. I’m not saying she’s not better than any Democrat, but your nose gets sore from having to hold every election.

And I am amused by her campaign tagline about not massing up New Hampshire.

GraniteGrok ran a set of branded gear with an identical sentiment during the 2022 campaign year. There was no ‘Kelly Ayotte’ running for anything in that one. Given how we used the term a few years before she adopted it, I wonder if any of her supporters would be offended by that.

I discontinued it due to a lack of interest, but Team Ayotte has adopted something similar, and I must admit I agree. Don’t Mass Up New Hampshire. But we’ve all been fighting that fight for a long while, so what exactly does she mean by that?

It is one thing to distance yourself from a set of ideas (an opponent or, in this case, the Bay State), but it is another to promise never to set foot on the same road that got them there. And, if the tagline is genuine, don’t you have to look at where we are after the Sununu era and say we need to reverse these things because they are stepping stones to Massing up New Hampshire?

We’ve got plenty of those, and I do not think Ayotte intends to backtrack on any of them.

Maybe she should change it to “Don’t Mass Up New Hampshire More Than It Is.”

Today, we learned that session days can be very long as we toiled over Senate bills from 9:00 a.m. until 7:10 p.m., with time, of course, for an hour-long lunch break. All in all, we slogged through 45 bills on the regular calendar and two more taken off consent. I can’t report on all of them, but I will try to share some highlights, both good and bad. Today, we surely earned our $100 for the year (wink).

We learned that we had around 28-floor amendments that we hoped to tack onto some of the Senate bills before us. These were amendments created from the language of House bills that the Senate recently killed through ITL or Interim Study. Not all 28 were voted to be added onto Senate bills, but for those that did, the House decided to send the Senate a strong message back to them that our work shouldn’t be dismissed so easily. Their favored bills will now include our favored bills. Let’s see what they will do with them. It’s an annoying little game both bodies play at this time of the year and during Committee of Conference season. Seeing as they are also still holding some of our bills hostage, I am sure those House bills will come back to us with many unwelcome surprises.

We learned that we special ordered our first bill to be done after lunch break, only to come back from lunch to Table it 325Y-32N. That was SB558, a bill that would require insurance companies to cover fertility treatments. The Commerce Committee recommended Interim Study because there was some questions about whether insurance companies cover those procedures or not, so either way, the bill ended up yielding no fruit… so to speak.

We learned that CACR22 failed to garner 3/5th of votes needed to pass, as the votes were 195Y-165N on a Roll Called vote. If this had passed, then a question would have been posed on November’s ballot as to whether or not we should establish the New Hampshire presidential primary (FITN) as the first such electoral contest in the nation in our State Constitution. We needed 216 yes votes for this CACR to pass. Apparently 21 House members did not trust the people enough to make that decision. I appreciated comments made by Deputy Speaker, Steve Smith (R-Charlestown), about presidential candidates, “It’s not cute when candidates come here and serve our coffee and cook our eggs. It is a reminder to the powerful people who want to be a leader of the free world that their first job, their only job, is to be a public servant.” He was spot on.

We learned that after all the tons of emails House members received about SB440, which made our eyes blurry, we tabled the bill 224Y-137N. This expanded the scope of what procedures optometrists could perform that they are not currently permitted to do. There were stipulations in the bill regarding required education, training, supervision and certification, but there was lots of push back by many organizations, ophthalmologists, and eye surgeons, warning legislators of horrible consequences that could happen to people if these procedures are not done properly. People who had gone blind from botched laser surgeries came to testify against the bill, as this type of optometry expansion has been allowed in other states. The bill was intended to help increase access to eyecare and procedures because there is a lack of ophthalmologists in our state, especially in rural areas. The thought was to allow optometrists to take on some of the procedures and make them more available for patients. There was no data to suggest that with optometrists performing some laser surgery treatments there would be higher rates of complications or malpractice suits. We also didn’t really know if this move would truly increase access to care and make it less expensive. In the end, the House saw fit to Table the bill.

We learned that SB417 passed 361Y-3N. This bill was a reaction to some horrific things that happened to kids that were placed out of state after being removed from their abusive or troubled homes. SB417 revises criteria for out-of-home placement of children under the child protection act and other juvenile statutes and establishes an order of preference based on placement with the child’s siblings, when possible, and proximity to the child’s community of origin. The committee amendment to the bill was a tighter Roll Called vote of 186Y-178N with all but 2 Democrats against the amendment (because remember… it’s for the kids). The amendment did many things to streamline the process of placement and to help facilitate getting children into homes where their unique needs can be met. For one thing it updated the standard for evidence from “a preponderance of the evidence” to “clear and convincing evidence.” Increasing the standard slightly to the clear and convincing evidence standard will help reduce the number of spurious cases heard by the court and allow the Judicial Branch to focus on the cases where there are real concerns. The amendment also addressed parental ownership of firearms and made it clear that mere ownership does not make a home “unsafe” and that this one factor should not be weighed against the parent. This was a good bill from the Senate… and the House made it even better with its amendment.

We learned that SB476 was the bill that approved a capital appropriation to the Department of Corrections (DOC) in the amount of $40 million for architectural, engineering, programming, design and construction documents for a replacement state men’s prison. This is a must have bill for the Senate. Rep. Terry Roy, (R-Deerfield) offered as a floor amendment the language to HB1711 to be added onto the Senate bill. HB1711 is considered by some, including many gun groups, to be a “Red Flag Law” bill and was recently killed in the Senate with a Tabling motion. It adds mental health records to gun background checks, and was a response to the shooting of Chief Bradley Haas at the NH Hospital. The floor amendment passed 202Y-165N, and the amended Senate bill passed 212Y-155N. Personally, I am not a fan of a $40 million expenditure in an “off budget year”, especially since we in the House keep getting chastised by the “folks on the other side of the wall” regarding bringing “money bills” to the Senate in an “off budget year” (hence their reason for killing some of our House bills…but I guess their money bills are betterer)… and I certainly didn’t support the floor amendment. It will be really interesting to see what the Senate does with this.

We learned that there was “House Drama” after the passage of SB476. Loud words were had between Rep. Terry Roy (R-Deerfield) and Rep. Cyril Aures (R-Chichester) about the HB1711 gun bill language. Afterwards, there were Motions made to Reprimand both House members for their unruly conduct, but the House decided to Table both Motions to Reprimand and get on with the days business. It was a good move, because we still had tons of work ahead of us, and the Reprimand really is nothing more than a “finger-wagging, don’t do that again boys” gesture. The House had already been in recess for a half hour to sort through the aftermath of the “kerfuffle” and decide how to deal with it all and we didn’t really need to waste more time on that. People need to chill… it’s just legislation the Senate will likely kill again anyway.

We learned that SB591, modifying definitions, claims procedures, and funding relating to the youth development center settlement fund and claims administration, passed on a voice vote. That was after an amendment was tacked onto it by Rep. Dan McGuire (R-Epsom). This bill makes various changes to settlement terms, and adds $60 million to the settlement fund for the YDC lawsuits.and will cover our expenses until July 1, 2025. There’s a $75 million cap on the state’s annual settlement costs, and a 5% interest rate on settlements that are paid over time, and that is going to be a level of expense to continue for many years. The amendment removes the ability of those funds to be borrowed and instead will have to be budgeted with the state’s other operating expenses. While it is appropriate to borrow when necessary for capital projects such as roads, prisons or other infrastructure that will be used for many decades, it is not appropriate to borrow to pay current expenses such as this settlement fund. The amendment passed 187Y-173N. Can you imagine that 173 House members would borrow money to pay structured settlements? That would just be a policy of insanity…taking out debt to pay more debt.

We also learned that SB431 relative to Wake Surfing was passed with an amendment 214Y-148N. This bill and its amendment restricts the activity of wake surfing on lakes and ponds that are less than 50 acres in size, codifies provision of existing wake surfing education by the Department of Safety, and mandates a 300-foot distance from shorelines and docks, versus the present distance in statute, which is 150 feet. The hope is that this will enable some progress with the mitigation of the cumulative environmental and recreational challenges. The motorsports industry has a “Wake Responsibly” campaign, to educate about the erosion of shoreline, damage of docks and boats, and interference with other lake recreational activities. For some wake boaters, passing this bill will surely make some waves.

We learned that SB358 was killed 176Y-174N on a Roll Called vote. It should have been passed. With this bill, New Hampshire would not honor out of state driver’s licenses issued exclusively to people unable to prove lawful presence in the United States. We have no problem with legal immigrants, but we know some of our neighboring states are issuing drivers licenses to illegal immigrants. That’s not cool. We heard arguments that allowing people who are unlawfully in our country to obtain driver’s licenses improves the safety of our roadways, but there’s no real evidence to support this. We also know that licenses (a government ID) given to unvetted individuals poses a much greater risk to public safety. Those licenses also confer certain privileges. Why would we give privileges to law breakers? The rule of law is important and should not be discarded. Allowing and condoning illegal immigration by honoring licenses specifically issued to unlawfully present individuals is not in the best interest of this state and is an affront to the millions of immigrants who have legally come to this country. Changing the status quo of state reciprocity on driver’s licenses is not to be taken lightly, but we have a duty to protect the rule of law and safeguard the citizens of our state from the bad policy decisions made by some of our neighboring states.

Finally we learned that SB501 was passed on a roll called vote of 181Y-169N, and that should have been killed. This bill will grant licenses to non-citizens residing in New Hampshire. The bill changes the term “Non Resident Alien” to “Non-Citizen.” Second, it mentions the term “granted conditional residence” but does not describe what it means. Third and most importantly, the bill states that “once licensed, the individual shall be subject to the same provisions of the law as all other licenses.” This is a back door to allowing non-citizens to vote. The minority feels that this bill will have an adverse effect to election integrity. One can only hope that the Governor will veto this horrible bill. This just underscores the need to stop using licenses as ID to vote in our state. We really need to find another way to validate voters.  I am amazed this bill came to us from the Senate!

Next week we’ll have Concurrence Week – The House will vote on all the bills coming back to us from the Senate with their marvelous changes. We can hardly wait to see all the presents they will send back to us in our House bills. I’m sure there will be some surprises and disappointments… like when you get socks or coal for Christmas.

It wasn’t as if Harrison Butker addressed the students of Yale, Harvard, or some other nefarious communist institution! Rather, Butker spoke to the graduating class at the Christian-oriented Benedictine College, located deep within the heart of America’s “fly-over country!” So, why all this ruckus?

The reason is obvious, yet many shy away from listening. For the longest time, our institutions of higher learning have been overrun with Marxist doctrinaires. Unfortunately, this fact alone qualifies their detrimental status.

Still, every year, hardworking parents send their children off toward these higher learning centers, thinking the best but eventually suspecting and then experiencing the worst. However, as the new freshman class arrives, they fill the ranks left open as the senior class graduates, dispersing to infest our business/corporate sectors and, in general, our country’s well-being.

This rotation has been ongoing throughout my adult life, and yet the routine apparently called for some sprucing up; so along came our public schools with studies that implanted the hammer and sickle doctrines. Now, future freshmen have a running start at being full-fledged and pledged comrades.

All this sounds like a writer with a gifted imagination, but stop and compare what was to what is now being forced fed. Examples are endless, too numerous to detail, yet one recent event, cited above, seemed to rock this mental thievery process, if the reaction it caused in our so-called journalistic world is any indicator. And to think that this caliber of nastiness is being directed at what is still America’s shining traditions and foundational supports.

Harrison Butker’s commencement speech respectfully highlighted motherhood, family, and Christianity. This is in addition to a general acknowledgment of the degrees earned and his best wishes for all the graduates’ future endeavors. Nevertheless, the three topics noted above claimed the media’s ire, along with official lambasting from NFL officials who now enforce this restrictive “woke” stranglehold.

Without delving into the individual quotes from Mr. Butker’s messaging, it needs to be repeated that his commencement invite came from a Christian-based university and that the section of his speech that generated all this ridicule was his revelation of personal experiences and how he and his wife enjoy a rich and rewarding life—one revolving around her being his wife, mother to their children, and homemaker. I might add that this particular section of his speech received an eighteen-second applause!

After listening to all the verbalization and printed rebuke against Mr. Butker, I am once again reminded of journalism’s apparent adoption of Sol Alinsky’s playbook for radicals. To quote one of his “rules,” “pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”

Within its eight-plus page speech, his advice encompassed a broad array of recommendations for the newly minted graduates to ponder upon. Given his self-professed adherence to God, his comments were richly interspersed with faith and his own personal rewards derived from his chosen lifestyle.

This topic, while also on the hatchet list, was too broad-based, so the “target” “picked” was the more personal one-on-one of mother and homemaker, which directly challenges what has been the routine lecture that condemns being held back by male superiority versus a woman’s “be all you can be” career potential. In other words, it has more of a direct, nerve-hitting effect that can easily be expounded upon, given the infamous chauvinist illusion of “keeping her barefoot and pregnant and in the kitchen!”

The purpose of ridiculing his wife’s role is meant to dampen Mr. Butker’s entire spiel since he basically champions traditions that are counter to this communist/globalist theorem. To ridicule a part is to condemn its entirety!

The media’s tactic is actually a knee slap protection of it new aged priorities. No longer can concerns be of an individual matter since this is the age of inclusion and equality. Since his words speak of the proven traditions and personal fulfillment from an inner belief, Mr. Butker’s ordeal is just beginning. There is even talk of his possible exile from the NFL!

Not only are the forces of fairness and inclusion denouncing his one-time oratory, but now they intend to penalize him to the point he will no doubt run their gauntlet until he is financially ruined and socially ostracized! All that is now lacking is an open courtroom and an agreeable “judge” so that Mr. Butker’s act can never become a replay!

Cloned meat, one of several names I’ve bandied about for Lab-grown meat (mystery meat is another), is not better for the environment, it is not better for people, and it is not the future of beef in America if actual Americans have anything to say.

Or is it?

I’ve had my share of encounters with people at the grocery store who buy fake meat. I see them looking at the packages for the right one, which must be a holdover from their real meat days. They are all the same. There’s no difference—identical weight, shape, texture, everything. Other than the expiration date, I can’t imagine what might be of so much interest.

KFC launched fake chicken (vegan) nuggets two years ago and is still selling them. Of course, these are plant-based fabrications – laboratory concoctions, nonetheless, but not synthesized from base matter into something meant to look and taste like the real thing. But the impossible stuff, like the lab-grown, isn’t better for the planet. Lab-grown meat is, in fact, several orders of magnitude worse than beef on the hoof.

In the study, the scientists estimated the energy required for stages of lab-grown meat production, from the ingredients making up the growth medium and the energy required to power laboratories, and compared this with beef.

They largely focused on the quantity of growth medium components, including glucose, amino acids, vitamins, growth factors, salts, and minerals.

They found the “global warming” potential of lab-grown meat ranged from 246 to 1,508 kg of CO2 equivalent per kilogram of lab-grown meat.

The figure is four to 25 times greater than the claimed average “global warming” potential of retail beef.

But that’s not why Alabama has joined Florida in prohibiting the manufacture or sale of lab-grown meat.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. (a) For the purposes of this section, the term “cultivated food product” means any food product produced from cultured animal cells.
(b)(1) It shall be unlawful for any person to manufacture, sell, hold or offer for sale. or distribute anv cultivated food product in this state.

SB23 was signed into law two weeks ago and takes effect October 1st of this year.

The Alabama bill, proposed by Republican state Sen. Jack Williams, vice chair of the Senate Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry Committee, and signed into law by Gov. Kay Ivey on May 7, prohibits the manufacture, sale, or distribution of food products made from cultured animal cells. State Rep. Denny Crawford also had a hand in the legislation.

Nutritionists not on-the-take have expressed concerns about “plant-based” and lab-grown meat.

[Registered dietitian Diana] Rodgers told the Post that she is concerned about a lack of publicly-available nutritional information regarding lab-grown meat. When asked whether lab-grown meat was healthy or not, Rodgers said, “We just don’t know.”

“I’d rather eat my shoe than lab-grown meat,” Rodgers told the Post. “McDonald’s is still better because the meat is a better option for vitamins,” she added later.

The plant-based variety makes claims about nutrition that are unlikely, if not themselves, fraudulent.

‘Among these products, we saw a wide variation in nutritional content and how sustainable they can be from a health perspective. In general, the estimated absorption of iron and zinc from the products was extremely low. This is because these meat substitutes contained high levels of phytates, antinutrients that inhibit the absorption of minerals in the body,’ says Cecilia Mayer Labba, the study’s lead author

To be clear, you can chew on plant-based or lab-created meat. I’m not telling you what to eat. But these are not better for the planet (consider the entire components-to-table carbon footprint of facilities, equipment, growing, prepping, synthesizing, and producing the product).

Fertilizer runoff for the plant-based product. And hey, isn’t farming bad for the planet?

But hey, the same government agency that lied about the COVID vaccines being safe and effective, completely abdicating its obligation to ensure informed consent about the risks, is responsible for ensuring fake and lab-grown meat provides accurate nutritional and ingredient details about what’s in it and the rest.

It is a mathematical fact that gasoline in the U.S. will eventually rise to $100 for a gallon (perhaps $130 for those interested in higher octane). This is not fear-mongering but basic arithmetic and economics.  Here’s why.

The price of goods and labor is directly linked to money supply and market factors.  This is not merely “supply and demand” economics but an issue of overheating (or overleveraging) an economy by printing and/or borrowing too much money.  When a government prints more money than the underlying economy is generating in real wealth, this is essentially a form of borrowing, often called “debt monetization.”

The United States has been doing this for decades, staving off the ordinary fluctuations in the economy punctuated by innovations and growth alternating with recessions – borrowing money in times of turmoil softens the blow, but also forestalls the consequences.

This is seen not just in the reckless Biden-Harris spending extravaganza masked by upside-down monikers such as “Build Back Better” or the “Inflation Reduction Act,” but across party lines and even centuries.

Notably, the largely forgotten S & L Crisis of the 1980s under the Reagan administration was never paid off: the proverbial can was simply kicked down the economic road (subject to compound interest, of course).  The S & L debacle is estimated to have cost U.S. taxpayers some $132 billion, chump change by today’s debt measures. But that “crisis” caused the collapse of more than 1,000 U.S. banks and the insolvency of the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation.

That $132 billion in 1980s dollars has not yet been paid off – it was simply rolled into the national deficit, followed by decades of mostly deficit spending by both parties.  The 2007-2008 financial crisis is estimated to have cost taxpayers some $498 billion, though President Obama famously lied to taxpayers in 2012, claiming the government recouped “every dime” used to rescue the banks he bailed out.  Whatever the actual sum, it remains subsumed in the accumulated national federal deficit of about $35 trillion.

Imagine running a household on infinite credit card debt, and you understand the federal government’s profligacy.  But it is much worse than that.  When unfunded entitlement obligations such as Medicaid and Social Security are counted, the current total estimated debt of the U.S. government exceeds $100 trillion, and the federal debt-to-GDP ratio is above 122%.  Currency and credit derivatives approximated $90 trillion in 2000, when U.S. Treasury dollars were $3,546,531,560, according to usdebtclock.org; they now exceed $1,576,612,150,000 – 444 times as much printed money in 25 years, far outstripping real GDP growth.

A 2024 Ford F-150 now sells for $36,770 ($73,735 for the Platinum model).  Has the truck’s “value” increased, or has the relative value of the dollar simply deteriorated?  The answer is a tad of both – these 2024 trucks have more gadgets and extras (the Platinum is a hybrid) than a 1986 Ford F-150, which retailed for $8,373 ($19,587.47 in today’s dollars).  But that difference between $8,373 and $19,587 is all inflation, which is accelerating dangerously despite Biden administration deceptions.

The moral hazard is that rewarding one’s pet projects and crony donors by printing money and disbursing it favorably is hard to trace.  The impact of this practice always falls on the poorest wage earners and fixed-income recipients in the form of higher prices and shrunken real incomes, but it is virtually impossible to link back to root causes, thus the temptation to do so because there is no accountability.

In his monetary policy study titled “Money Mischief,” economist Milton Friedman traces this conundrum, emphasizing that overprinting money is always what causes inflation:

According to Milton Friedman (1963)—and also the Deutsche Bundesbank (1999)—inflation is “always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon” and thus the responsibility of central banks. This conclusion builds on the so-called quantity equation (M * V = P * Y), which establishes a relationship between the quantity of money controlled by central banks (M), the price level (P), the quantity of all goods and services produced (Y) and the velocity of money in circulation (V). If the velocity of money in circulation is constant, then the price level rises if the money supply grows faster than the quantity of all goods and services produced.

Friedman also warned that all fiat currencies eventually collapse because they are not backed by actual physical assets.  This means that just like that F-150, the price of a gallon of gas will eventually climb to $100/gallon and that wages will never keep pace – without regard to oil supply shortages or interruptions in distribution (such as could be inflicted by an Iranian attack on numerous oil-shipping choke points).

A glimpse of what is inevitably coming to American shores is found in the example of Zimbabwe, which also shows that math, and money-printing, are not racist but color blind – they don’t care what skin color, social justice cause, or Utopian fantasy is employed to violate their fundamental logic.  Robert Mugabe tried to harness the Zimbabwean economy for social spending (“social justice”), with devastating effects on that nation’s currency and people.  Inflation rates reached nearly 250,000,000 % in 2008, though they have subsided to “merely” 57.5 % currently.  A $10 trillion Zimbabwean note can be purchased for about $10 U.S.

The U.S. dollar is not immune to such abuses, and America is on the precipice of a monetary disaster (to be “rescued” by an all-controlling digital currency).  As one commentator observed in October 2022 of Biden-seeded inflation:

….the M2 money supply is up 41.6% over the past three years.  So while not all inflations are caused by rapid money growth, this one is.  Indeed velocity has actually slowed during this period, which means that more than 100% of the inflation comes from monetary policy as defined by Friedman.  Thus, at least this time around: It’s the money supply, stupid.

The United States Congress created a bipartisan commission to tackle rising debt, but in an election year there is bipartisan hesitancy to take this mighty monetary bull by its inflationary horns:

Facing the reality that any fiscal commission would almost certainly suggest that Americans pay more or get less from their government, lawmakers have time and again done what they do so well: punt the problem to the next Congress. And they seem poised to do so again.

This means that even without interruptions of foreign oil supplies or Biden policies shrinking U.S. energy production and oil drilling, reckless U.S. monetary policy promises to drive the price at the pump for gasoline far above a paltry $100/gallon.  In the future, American fathers and mothers will not nostalgically say, “I remember when gas was 17 cents a gallon.”  They will tell their children, “I remember when gasoline was only $100 a gallon.”

There are many ways to look at Biden’s comments when he goes off teleprompter. First, it shows his mental acuity is gone, which most logical observers have been saying for a few years. Two, it shows his little respect for anyone across the aisle, and this is from the man who promised to be the great unifier. It makes us salivate at the thought of this feeble old man debating Trump.

At one of his campaign stops over the weekend, Biden was working hard to scare his listeners, and they were just a few, by telling them what kind of Judge Trump would appoint to the Supreme Court if he got a chance. He qualified his thought, saying, “Does he even know how to nominate a judge with a brain?” Are you kidding me? Can this man be any less respectful? I don’t think so. How do the three Supreme Court justices he appointed – Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett feel about the current President, who cannot string two sentences together, questioning their intelligence intelligence? That is rich, very rich!

Sometimes, Biden doesn’t even have to speak to show his ignorance. We all remember the flag-draped remains of the thirteen service people returning to America at Dover Air Force Base. Pictures don’t lie, but Biden and his surrogates do. Biden has denied it, and Jenn Psaki, Biden’s Press Secretary, wrote in her recent book that Biden did not glance at his watch during the dignified transfer.

Just a week ago, Biden showed his lack of respect for the former President, “That other guy, that loser. I think he’s having trouble,” Biden said, without referring to Trump by name. Speaking to the NAACP this weekend in Detroit, he referenced his tenure as Vice President during the Pandemic when Barack Obama sent him to Detroit to help fix it. What is he talking about? He was VP from 2009 to 2017, and the Pandemic did not hit until 2020! Somebody, please fact-check this old man.

In April, President Biden made the sign of the cross, a gesture Catholics often make before and after prayer, while listening to pro-abortion comments by a fellow Democrat in Florida. “Biden’s decision to make the sign of the cross in support of abortion extremism is a despicable charade that attempts to co-opt a sacred practice in support of his new abortion religion,” added CatholicVote President Brian Burch. “His gesture openly mocks the Christian belief in the sanctity of life.”

“There is no divine support for destroying the lives of innocent children, and he should know better,” Burch added. “Biden’s gesture suggests he is either terribly naive, or senile, or callously indifferent to the foundational beliefs of millions of Christians in America.”

The last sentence in Burch’s statement sums up Joe Biden perfectly. “He is either terribly naive, or senile, or callously indifferent to the foundational beliefs of millions of Christians in America.” It is not just Christians but anyone on the Right side of the aisle. For a man who was to unify, he widened the aisle to a four-lane highway with Do Not Cross signs at the entire length. No President, not even Jimmy Carter, has done as much in one term to bring down Americans and America.

The question of the day with no wrong answer is which man is the biggest sleazebag- Michael Avenatti or Michael Cohen. Both are lawyers, con artists, liars, and now thieves. Grammarly just informed me that sleazebag may be inappropriate. Absolutely not; it is not vile enough for these two individuals.

The connection between these two men is the ridiculous felony trial against Donald Trump by the State of New York. Michael Avanati stole from the porn star witness who was used to embarrass Trump, and he is now doing time. Cohen, who was the star witness against Donald Trump, has already done time for perjury. He was a convicted liar and, after his confession today that he stole $60,000 from Trump in lieu of a bonus he was denied, is now a thief. Alvin Bragg has to charge Cohen to save face in this farce of a trial.

The case against Trump is in its fifth week, with closing arguments scheduled to begin next Tuesday, and there has still not been a crime charged against Biden. How can you have a trial when no law is identified or violated or a victim?

Most of the so-called legal experts on CNN and MSNBC were flabbergasted after Cohen’s confession, except for Lawrence O’Donnell of MSNBC, who did his dramatic best to justify the theft by Cohen as compensation for the unpaid bonus. What a fool. This guy should be writing soap operas because he lacks credibility as a political analyst. No, Lawrence, there is no justification. Cohen did not earn his bonus, and to take the money as compensation is theft, plain and simple.

This case is Lawfare in 2024. Forty years ago, the Justice Department at the state and federal level had accountability. If there was a crime, a grand jury was called, charges were filed, and a court case proceeded. Today, politicians use the Justice Department to attack opponents, manufacture a charge, and tie the person up in the system for months. If you bankrupt the individual, so much the better. If, forty years ago, an aspiring DA ran on the promise of destroying a political individual, they were chastised and probably pulled from the election. Today, that same DA candidate is cheered and elected. The system has gone rank and stinks, but it is the public to blame, for it is votes that put these people into office. Alvin Braggs, Leticia James, and Fanni Willis are the poster children of what is wrong. Sadly, these three are Black, and rather than take advantage of the opportunity they have been given to do something positive, they pull the race and WOKE card to feed an agenda. It is a sick system and a sad statement about where our society is in 2024.

We can and must do better. We must insist on a higher caliber individual to run for office and never cast a vote for anyone who does not measure up. If not, these agenda-driven individuals will play the system, and we will continue to write about the problem.

At the beginning of the legislative session, Senator Dan Innis proposed legislation that would allow school districts to contract with a health care provider, health system, or community partner to establish a school based health center for the purpose of providing services to students beyond the scope of school nursing services.  The public made sure this dangerous Bill never made it out of the New Hampshire Senate.

Unfortunately some schools in New Hampshire have gone rogue, and are now working with school based health clinics like Amoskeag in Manchester. My hope is that a parent and attorney will challenge this in court since there has been no legislative approval for these kinds of clinics in our schools.

What have we found out about some of these clinics around the country? We know a high school girl in Maine was prescribed an antidepressant without her parents’ knowledge or consent.  There are plenty of examples where parents have been kept in the dark when their child visits the school-based health clinic.

The latest example comes from Seattle, where a public school-based health clinic will be offering children cross-sex hormones as part of their school day.

What does Amoskeag offer children who visit its school-based health clinic in Manchester? You can find more about that here.

First, parents need to ensure that each visit to a school counselor, behaviorist, doctor, or nurse is accompanied by a parent. In addition, parents should consent to all of this. That does not mean blanket consent but consent for each visit and service.

Some parents concerned about privacy rights or who do not trust that they will be respected in their parental role have already started notifying the school district that they are not to provide these services to their children.

If parents do encounter problems associated with these school based health clinics, they can contact me, and I will help them look into the situation. Some of the employees working in these clinics have made it clear that parents will be cut out of this process. They will not notify them or ask them for consent. Since it’s federally funded, they don’t believe parents have a right to know or consent to this treatment. That’s something every parent needs to consider if their district heads in this direction.

We’re always looking for anything that will inform our readers and trigger the fragile snowflakes, and this clip might be just what the under-trained, ill-informed public school health clinic counselor ordered.

It might be a bit more triggering than informing, as our readership is well-versed on the subject and aware of the participants. Dr. David Martin was relatively unknown to a majority of Americans until the Plandemic movie, after which he became a go-to resource and household name among those daring to ask the wrong questions about the Wuhan Flu and the political response to it.

We’ve shared some of David’s observations in the past (here, if interested), so his recent appearance on Russell Brand’s podcast (naturally) caught my attention. It’s a great conversation you can watch in its entirely here, but I wanted to clip a bit and share it to get the thoughts of this community.

Russel and Dave had been talking about governments and wars running cover for what was essentially a legalized drug cartel beginning with opium and how the latest enrichment of Big Pharma isn’t much different from the British Empire’s arrangement with the East India Company and the export of opium for fun and profit. Martin essentially says if you read their own words this was all deliberate with specific goals.

Such “Republicans” are, AT BEST, useless, have no idea what they are dealing with, and, as a practical matter, are delusional if they actually believe that it is possible to “bipartisan” and “find common ground” with Woke-Communists.

And kudos to Ross Berry for moving his family out of Manchester. The city is a total SH*THOLE, and any parent(s) who leaves their child(ren) to be groomed and indoctrinated by the  Woke-Communist-bureaucrats running the Manchester public schools, if they can get them the hell out of that sh*thole of a city, is committing child abuse. Family ALWAYS comes before politics.

As you folks already know or remember, last October, we had our first Groktoberfest for Conservatarian (Conservative & Libertarian) activists to do what political folks do – yak, eat, shoot some guns (‘natch – held at the Londonderry Fish and Game club), and listen to a few people tell us their stories…

…and yak, yak, and yak some more. Even though some view politics as rather boring and irrelevant, activists hold quite the opposite view. To the point that the “main events” fade into the background as the yakking just continues.

Again, at the event, I announced my semi-retirement (surprising to me – I didn’t even know I was going to do it!) from the ‘Grok I had founded 18 years ago due to family issues that HAD to take priority. And in doing so, I turned over everything over to Steve knowing that it would be in the best of hands – I was not disappointed.

Sidenote: And that is the reason why I am taking this opportunity to ask you to donate to GraniteGrok. We are all volunteers, but with Steve’s full-time job gone away, this is the opportunity to keep him and all the time he puts in with his wit, wisdom, and dry humor full-time in a paying position. We were lucky with his old job – nooks and crannies of time always showed up, and he spent it spinning up post after post. However, if he has to look for another full-time job, there’s no guarantee that he’d have the same amount of time for you all to enjoy.

Thus, my keyboard went silent until deciding that things had calmed down enough so that I could resume this hobby obsession (much to the dismay of some, I bet).

So, seven months later, Life is allowing me the time to process some older videos and start putting them up on Rumble (Steve, during my absence, decided on Rumble instead of YouTube—I’m good with that even though I have to learn a whole new system).

The left ‘hates’ fossil fuels the same way they ‘hate’ guns. They need them, you don’t. Fracking was a logical target because it produces the energy we need at prices everyone can afford. Killing it was a priority, and kill it they did, but new research suggests it might be a critical part of the supposed green energy transition.

It turns out that the Marcellus Shale —  a long swath of sedimentary rock in the northeastern United States that holds huge amounts of frackable gas — holds huge quantities of lithium too. Justin Mackey and other researchers at the National Energy Technology Laboratory in Pennsylvania were pleasantly surprise when they studied the contents of wastewater dredged up in the fracking process at 515 sites in the Keystone State, reports Science Alert. …

When they analyzed the wastewater data, they were stunned by the volume of lithium. The shale “has the capacity to provide significant lithium yields for the foreseeable future” he says. Their detailed findings were published in Scientific Reports.

No one is concluding that all frackable shale despots will likewise result in a commensurate connection to lithium, but how amusing would that be? The Marcellus deposits, if continuously developed, address a pressing need of the climate cult and its energy transition. Lithium is essential and we don’t have much capacity. There is a goal to develop US capacity as a drunken nod to the notion of domestic lithium independence. And it turns out that getting there from here – aside form being totally unnecessary for the scores of reasons we’ve covered elsewhere – might require the tin-foil-hat-left to support fracking.

The Thacker Pass mine in northern Nevada, which is supposed to be the nation’s largest open-pit lithium mine. Indian tribes sued, claiming the mine is too close to the site of an 1865 massacre.  Environmentalists sued, saying the mining process will destroy animal habitats and harm groundwater. Now the federal Fish and Wildlife Service is doing a year-long study on the potential impact to a tiny snail.

The Frackers are already established and operational. The physical footprint of oil and gas installations if tiny compared to traditional lithium extraction. It is a solution to a non-problem they’ll have to swallow their pride and ignorance to embrace but they may have no choice.

A recent survey shows police departments hired more new officers in 2023 than in the previous four years. This news is particularly encouraging for major cities suffering upheaval and increased crime. Americans are concerned about upholding law and order, an issue that will doubtlessly feature prominently in the 2024 elections. However, the ongoing decriminalization ideology embraced by many prosecutors may undermine these positive gains: Many crimes charged by the police simply aren’t being prosecuted.

The study by the Police Executive Research Forum reflected increased hiring for 2023, but also a drop in police officer retirements and resignations. This is encouraging news for law and order following an exodus of experienced officers following the controversial death of George Floyd in 2020 and the ensuing BLM fad. Bold attacks on police, initiatives to defund departments, and reduced personnel from resignations and lower applications created a vicious cycle of demoralization that has not fully abated – some inner-city departments still struggle with recruitment despite six-figure starting salaries.

Police Killings

It is understandable that police officers would resign or retire, and that new recruits may hesitate to serve on the streets. The hateful attacks against US police officers extend beyond mere shaming or political criticism – murders of police officers rose nearly 60% in 2021, a number that included numerous targeted assassinations. A total of 346 officers were shot in 271 separate incidents, according to the Fraternal Order of Police, and  103 of those shootings were “ambush-style attacks.” The number dipped slightly in 2022 to 331, but then rose again to 378 in 2023. Surely such statistics motivate police officers and their loved ones to consider alternative professions.

A recent poll by the Pew Research Center suggests the issue of law enforcement may feature highly in 2024 election races, as 58% of US adults say “reducing crime should be a top priority for the president and Congress to address this year,” up from 47% at the beginning of the Biden presidency in 2021. Overall crime rates are allegedly down for violent offenses but have increased substantially for property crimes. Additionally, high-profile disruptions in America’s largest cities have fueled public perceptions, including brazen assaults by illegal immigrants against both citizens and police, and controversial episodes of squatting, shoplifting, and carjacking.

Prosecutorial Support for Law Enforcement

Voter concerns may shift public sentiment toward police support – many cities that embraced Defund the Police policies are now scrambling to restore public safety. But supporting the police also means supporting prosecutions of those the police arrest and charge, a growing problem across the country as left-wing prosecutors who more resemble defense attorneys decline to press charges for drug dealing and many theft crimes, eliminate cash bond, decline to charge juveniles as adults, and advocate minimal or suspended sentences for many dangerous offenders.

Such lax support of America’s police does not bode well for future hires, public safety, or the political fortunes of liberal Democrats. Following the spike in murders of police in 2021, FBI Director Christopher Wray ominously hinted at this problem:

“We’re seeing more and more juveniles committing violent crime, and that’s certainly an issue. We’re seeing a certain amount of interstate gun trafficking. That’s part of it. And we’re seeing an alarming frequency of some of the worst of the worst getting back out on the streets.”

Prosecutors in many roiling inner cities refuse to pursue sentencing enhancements for repeat offenses, aggravated circumstances, or gang affiliation. This ensures more violent, mentally ill, or criminally organized defendants will “slip through the cracks” of lax prosecutorial worldviews and be released to commit more crimes, including targeted murders of on-duty police officers.

The Path to Law and Order

The rise in police hiring is a hopeful indication that Americans and their families will be better protected in the future. But lax prosecution will continue to put both police and the citizenry at greater risk of violent crime and diminish police morale and future hiring. Police officers working without prosecutorial backup are hog-tied from accomplishing the fundamental purpose of their profession, no matter how many new cops are hired.

Law and order is a high priority for many voters going into the 2024 elections. Their focus may turn to policies that hold prosecutors accountable for enforcing the laws, That outcome might – and perhaps should – be preferable to ignoring their commissions in favor of dangerous political ideologies that place law-abiding citizens and honest police at unnecessary risk.

The New Hampshire State Senate just passed (and I mean Just!) HB1093 AN ACT  prohibiting mandatory mask policies in schools. “This bill prohibits school boards and other public education agencies from adopting, enforcing, or implementing a policy that requires students or members of the public to wear a facial covering.”

189:75  Facial Covering Policy for Schools.  The school board of a school district or the chief executive officer of a chartered public school or public academy shall not adopt, enforce, or implement a policy that requires students or members of the public to wear a facial covering for any purpose while on the school’s property unless the facial covering is necessary for a specific extracurricular or instructional purpose, or is required by some other section of the law. In this section, “facial covering” means any item worn on the face which covers a student’s mouth, nose, or both.

It’s a short and sweet statement that you shall not mandate face coverings in schools—full stop. This means they are optional—there is no law preventing individuals from adopting them or anyone discussing any harm or benefit. It does, however—because you know how “They” get—include some clarifications.

This provision shall not prohibit any public school board or governing person or body of a school from requiring participating students to wear athletic gear intended to protect against concussive or similar sports-related physical damage, or to wear protective equipment while handling chemicals, fire, or other similar hazardous elements for scientific or similar educational purposes.  Further, this provision shall not prohibit policies that may require facial coverings as part of a student’s individualized education program pursuant to RSA 186-C or accommodation plan pursuant to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (29 U.S.C. 701 et seq).  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.

No one is banning helmets in football, and so on. It is sad that you have to make that clarification, but that’s not the problem; Sununu is.

Governor Sununu has been known to ignore his Executive Order Spree on the subject of COVID-inspired statewide overreach and selectively play the local control card. (He vetoed HB1131 the 2022 bill preventing school mask mandates). You know, let the locals decide, except when he doesn’t think that’s a good idea. But both chambers, through investigation and debate, have again discovered that mask mandates are not what many claim and may indeed cause harm. Industrial hygienist Stephen Petty came back to New Hampshire again to try and help pass this bill (he was also here for round one in 2022).

He might need to visit the governor personally over a long lunch because this isn’t our first rodeo with protecting kids and education staff from these mandates.

Has Sununu seen more now that he feels comfortable saying yes this time? It’s his last term, and he doesn’t have to run on it, so it could go either way. He could also allow it to become law without his signature.

We’d be good with any of that but we’re not holding our breath.

Please politely encourage the governor to sign HB1093.
