The Media Reaction to Tucker Carlson’s Exclusive Access to Capitol Hill J6 Video is … Hilarious!

Wed, 2023-03-01 17:30 +0000

The Dems and their media troglodytes went nuts when worked broke that the Speaker of the House was giving Tucker Carlson’s program all the video the Capitol Police had from January 6th, 2021.

So, to address the outrage, some much-needed detail has been provided regarding Tucker Carlosn’s access.

“It’s basically controlled access to be able to view tapes. Can’t record, can’t take anything with you,” Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.), the chairman of the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight, told The Hill Tuesday, …

Elaborating, Loudermilk told CBS News that Carlson’s staff “may request any particular clips they may need, then we’ll make sure there’s nothing sensitive, nothing classified, including escape routes … we don’t want al-Qaeda to know certain things.”

No one has anything, but staff can view it all and ask for clips … which is still unacceptable for the left in all its forms. These clips could, well – let me allow the media to explain that problem in the context of their request for access (emphasis mine).

A group of outlets—Advance Publications, ABC News, Axios, CBS News, CNN, Scripps, Gannett, the Los Angeles Times, Politico, and ProPublica—wrote a letter to McCarthy and other congressional leaders to grant access to the footage.

“Without full public access to the complete historical record, there is concern that an ideologically-based narrative of an already polarizing event will take hold in the public consciousness, with destabilizing risks to the legitimacy of Congress, the Capitol Police, and the various federal investigations and prosecutions of January 6 crimes,” attorney Charles Tobin wrote on behalf the media outlets last week.

The bolded bit is obviously what they’ve been doing for the past two years but they insist on access to prevent … what? Would they’d like to see how much trouble they are in after leaping off another cliff with a Democrat narrative cradled protectively in their arms?

Talk about hypocrisy on steroids. It’s so bad that we can paraphrase the pull quote into a very passable mainstream media corporate mission statement.

To reinforce ideologically-based narratives of polarizing events that will take hold in the public consciousness.”

With the goal of destabilizing political opponents or their proxies –

It’s a bit much to sew on a pillow, but it would fit nicely on a wall in the press room or above the producer’s couch in their well-appointed multi-billion-dollar global media conglomerate office. And if transparency, truth in advertising, or even a lightly veiled effort at transparency were the goal, you could hang it in front of the camera or as part of the masthead, depending on the medium.

I think the EPOCH Times missed the real story there but we’re happy to carry that water.

They will, the media outlets, get that access in due time, per the same linked report.

During an interview with the New York Times earlier this month, McCarthy said he was releasing the footage to Carlson by saying: “I promised.” Like Loudermilk, McCarthy said that the footage would be made more widely available at a later date, although it’s unclear when.

“I was asked in the press about these tapes, and I said they do belong to the American public. I think sunshine lets everybody make their own judgment,” the California Republican told the NY Times.

So, not worry machine-media (with the long track record of selective editing to create and reinforce ideologically-based narratives). You’ll get your chance but odds are good you won’t be able to pull the Marxist wool over anyone’s eyes. If all the video that is safe to share is accessible to anyone, your effort to take hold of the public consciousness will be quickly undermined.

But we look forward to watching you try.

Dems+Kids+Pornography, Govt Schools Can’t Teach Math, NH School Choice, and More! – Stack of Stuff #39

Wed, 2023-03-01 16:00 +0000

It’s been over a month since my last edition and a lot of stuff has been stacking up – and fast!  So, let’s get started! Pornography is in our Public / Government Schools – that is incontrovertibly true.  I sent out a number of Right To Knows here in NH (gotta restart that investigation!), and it is happening all over the country.

Hardly anyone in the public knew that School Boards were condoning this by their staff, but here we are.  The most often heard reason can be summarized by “these are needed by ‘marginalized communities.  Funny, gays, trans, Blacks, Browns, and other minorities need to have access to pornography without their parents knowing it, in order to learn?  In order to learn their ABCs, simple math, reading, and history, they have to learn all about different sexual techniques and be titillated by books paid for by taxpayers (or, as I have found out, “granted” to school libraries by “sexual special interest groups”).

WHY the rush to sexualize youngsters by those in Government? NH State Rep Glenn Cordelli has a bill, HB371, to stop this action. Everything is reformatted and emphasis is mine.

  • Bill seeks giving parents more clout over ‘obscene’ material

Freedom of speech collided with individual outrage during a hearing on legislation to compel school boards to create a process for any parent to charge that school materials are obscene. The legislation also would insert the state Department of Education into the enforcement of what constitutes obscenity.  “I realize that our state obscenity laws exclude education from those laws,” said Rep. Glenn Cordelli, R-Tuftonboro, the bill’s (HB 371) prime sponsor, at a House Education Committee hearing last week.

I note that one of the critics, NH State Rep David Paige (D-Conway) took exception to this but, right away, refuted WHY he’s off base:

Rep. David Paige, D-Conway, said attempts to limit materials available to students at school miss the reality that young people often can get access to pornography through their phones and social media apps outside of the classroom…“They aren’t doing it by going to their library stacks; they aren’t getting it from a language arts course.”

And the other complaint (“that it could more easily subject educators to criminal prosecution.”) is rather weak – if you get RID of obscene materials in schools (including “graphic illustrated books” showing actual sex acts by minors), then there can be no allegation of providing pornography to children, right?

So even as Government Schools are adamant about providing porn to kiddies, how well are they accomplishing what we DO pay them to do?  In many cases, not well at well. At least in NH, we just want to make sure Parents can object.  It WOULD be, in Florida, a jailability offense.

  • Illinois has 930 schools where only one in ten children can do math at grade level (Update)

Recent test scores found that there were 23 schools in the city where not even one child was doing math at grade level. These included Elementary Schools, Middle Schools and High Schools. Those were the extreme low end but the numbers also showed that city-wide just 7% of 3-8th graders were doing math at grade level…In this case, there were 53 schools where not one child could do math at grade level

This column focuses on schools where zero percent of kids are able to read or do math. But we could have just as easily looked at the 622 schools where only 1 out of 10 kids or less can read at grade level. That’s a whopping 18 percent of the state’s 3,547 schools that tested students in 2022.

And only 1 out of 10 kids or less can do math at grade level in 930 schools…that’s more than a quarter of all schools in the state.

And thats just one State. Detroit is also well known for churning out illiterates. But you can bet that they know “preferred pronouns” like the back of their hands! And oh, the post names names as one school is spending $52K / student/year, and not ONE student is proficient in math. But, you know, White Supremacy!:

Department of Education Fights the White Supremacy of Math

Major University Professor Fights Math’s ‘Harbor for Whiteness’

Math Professor Says Math Education Is Racist — and Sexist and Homophobic

School District Hosts Year-Long Anti-Whiteness Training to Fight ‘Curricular Violence’ in Math

Yet, we keep hearing that teachers are underpaid…try doing that in the private sector…glad to see that the topic of School Choice is increasingly making the rounds. If Government schools are failing WHY shouldn’t Parents have alternatives?

  • In Deerfield, high school choice debate continues

Deerfield residents packed the basement community room of the town office building with one topic on their minds – the future of Deerfield’s high school age students. The event, a panel discussion on school choice, was put on by a citizens’ group that wants to expand high school options for the town. Education Commissioner Frank Edelblut was a speaker along with Republican State Rep. Glenn Cordelli and N.H. State Board of Education member Richard Sala.

The discussion is the latest installment of a decades-long conversation over which high school is the best fit for the town of Deerfield. The town educates its children in grades pre-K-8, but does not have its own high school. For the past 19 years, Deerfield has maintained a tuition contract to send its students to Concord High School. Now, faced with the choice of whether to renew the contract with Concord for another 20 years, some parents are saying they want more choices.

And, once again, proving that Democrats want TOTAL control over everything in Education, they CRY over a bill that would make using “preferred pronouns” voluntary??

  • ‘Pure discrimination’: Democrats brought to tears by Kentucky bill that prevents teachers from being forced to use preferred pronouns

A Kentucky bill recently passed the state Senate that prohibits school districts from requiring teachers to use the preferred pronouns of their students and requires school officials to notify parents if they are providing certain services to students, covering topics such as “human sexuality” or “family planning.” Kentucky Democrats Senate Bill 150 “discrimination,” “horrible,” and “destructive,” with one state senator reportedly having “sobbed,” according to Kentucky.com.

…Regarding teachers being compelled to use a student’s preferred pronouns, the bill states that it shall “prohibit a school district from requiring school personnel or pupils to use pronouns for students that do not conform to that student’s biological sex.”

And, of course, the usual emotional blackmail ensued when the bill was passed:

  • A woman yelled, “You just killed kids!” after the vote.
  • “Your vote yes on this bill means one of two things: Either you believe that trans children do not exist, or you believe that trans children do not deserve to exist,” Berg said.

Those words are DISGUSTING, and we all need to start pushing back on those that believe that only gonads should be the most important distinguishing feature.  No, upholding the Constitutional Right of Free Speech is not going to kill kids.  And trying to guilt folks doing so by the use of their political use of erasing / existing is both untrue and madness. But this is what happens – the Tyranny of the Minority in which ACTUAL Rights are to be withdrawn when any of those gender dysphoria sufferers are present or during their absence.

But this whole movement is set up to remove Choice and Freedom.  And when you do that, what’s the only status left? Yes, that’s right – enslavement to a sexual ideology/belief.  Is this how we, supposedly a Free People, to be?

And we’re back to pornography again:

  • Superintendent puts book on orgies, kinks, fetishes, and sex apps back in kids’ school libraries

The school superintendent in Abington, Massachusetts, has put back into kids’ school libraries a book that promotes sexual kinks and orgies. The book is titled “This Book is Gay” and, as noted by Fox News, it discusses “orgies, kinks, fetishes, sex apps,” among various sexually explicit topics. Fox News asked Superintendent Peter Shafer if he was “aware that the book discusses the following, among other things: orgies, kinks, fetishes, sex apps, bath house, [a] casual hookup, [and] detailed information on how to have anal sex, as well as other sexual activities.”

“After reading the entire book and understanding it in full context, I decided to put it back in the library,” Shafer said in response.

…Grindr, an LGBTQ dating app, is featured in the book…The book describes author Juno Dawson’s use of Grindr, saying, “The benefits are obvious: quick, easy, and uncomplicated sex.

The only conclusion that I can come to is that the Superintendent is fine with First Graders read this book…

Let’s switch to DIE (Diversity, Inclusion, and “Equity”) for a moment. The results of implementing this at Texas A&M is JUST what these DIE missionaries WANT:

  • THE WAGES OF DEI AT TEXAS A&M. Tar. Feathers.

Universities adopt Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) plans with a host of promises. Advocates pledge, for instance, that, through reforms, the university will come to approximate the racial composition of the local community or state. Yet “equity” has proven to be an elusive goal, selectively pursued. It is sought only when it advantages supposedly underrepresented minorities. There are no “Men in Elementary Education” programs and few dedicated to “Men in Nursing.” The inconsistency between the stated goals of equity and its implementation reveals that equity is about disrupting and dismantling more than achieving any kind of parity.

And what is the result that the missionaries don’t want to admit to:

When both Whites and Blacks, by a large margin, decided that a University doesn’t want them (especially where DIE is supposed to be “supportive” of a “marginalized Black community”, isn’t that a problem. And given that males have been a Higher Education whipping boy demographic for decades, you think you’d believe they’d see that they’ve created a problem rather than solved a problem?  Or is this actually achieving a result they wanted?

And after that small interlude, we’re back to teachers shoving sexuality into our kids:

  • Pennsylvania English Teacher Says His Sex Ed Course Is Designed to ‘Desensitize Children’ to Sexual Imagery and Genitalia

A private school in Pennsylvania is employing a “sexuality curriculum” that includes graphic images and video of genitals and sexual acts.  Teacher Al Vernacchio is an English teacher at Friends’ Central School in Wynnewood, PA. He also coordinates programs and assemblies centered on sexuality. The content goes far beyond the biological aspects of sexual education. Vernacchio says children are inherently sexual beings and he thinks sex education classes should be “transformative.”

No mention of any Parental role in this, btw…oh, this being a PROGRESSIVE private school, they are fine with this. I’m not going to quote any more except for the admonition at the end

To anyone reading Vernacchio’s own quotes it should be obvious that his intent isn’t education, but sexualization. While parents at his private school may be in favor of the curriculum, this story should encourage parents seeking alternatives to government schools to always look closely at an institution’s curriculum and agenda before committing.

Flip back to DIE – and WHERE do all the young teachers get indoctrinated that DIE is supposed to be in our schools and in their classrooms?  Well, in teachers’ colleges

  • A VERY PUBLIC EDUCATION: Texas professor instructs elementary school teachers on how to ‘interrogate whiteness.’

As an assistant professor of literacy studies in the College of Education at UT Arlington, Daly teaches the state’s future elementary school educators how to manage their classrooms. In her article, she writes elementary school teachers “need to be talking about race.”

In particular, such conversations should take place “while reading and discussing literature to empower students of color and white students with knowledge and tools for under-standing, analyzing, and disrupting racism.”  Such race talk “must be ongoing in order for students to develop the knowledge and skills needed to interrogate how racism and whiteness are perpetuated through texts, language, and social norms,” Daly’s article added.

However “Classroom race talk is often difficult to sustain, especially for white teachers whose racial identities influence how they resist or comply with dominant social and political discourses that silence conversations about race.”

Let me interject here – if teachers are being taught that the only things that matter are the color of your skin and what is between your legs, well, like Government subsidies, you’re going to get MORE of it. And I agree with this:

Teaching that white people are bad because of whiteness is racism, straight up.

And if you are a straight person, you are being told you are bad as well. Yet, this kind of discrimination, we are told, are because we are too thin-skinned. Tell you what, when all you hear from your figure of authority, your teachers, that you are bad, why are we surprised when every one has mental issues from the constant bombardment?

But sometimes, good news appears and this one comes to the favor of Parents – it’s at least a start even if a bit ambigious and I disagree with the ending:

  • Colorado School District Revises Transgender Student Policy in Face of Parent Opposition

A Colorado school district has agreed to stop concealing the transgender identity of students from parents unless it deems the child to be facing a “safety threat,” according to documents obtained by The Daily Signal.   The Cañon City school district hosted a Transgender Student Policy Work Group on Nov. 28, at which stakeholders decided schools can only withhold information about a child’s gender identity “where a credible safety threat is of a concern.” The district does not provide guidelines, however, for determining whether a threat is “credible.”

The best approach for notifying parents and guardians about their child’s transgender identity is to “work collaboratively with the student and family to meet the needs of the student,” according to a summary of the work group meeting shared on Wednesday with The Daily Signal.

But the District WILL continue a “transition” with the child even if the Parent says NO:

If the parent refuses to use the gender communication and support plans, the school will continue to “support the student in their social transition within the school.”

Parents need to keep the heat on. After all, WHOSE child is it?  Certainly with this, the District is saying “ours”.  Is this REALLY what School District have done – on their own? However, the District is, like all Districts adopting this, has decided it can contravene the US Constitution (I peeked at their policy):

A student has the right to be addressed by a name and pronouns that correspond to the student’s gender identity

And back to that damned word “Equity” which is NOT “Equality” but a euphemism for the Communist notion (wrongly) that everyone MUST be the exact same. In short, because of racial quotas that DIE and Critical Race Theory DEMANDS, those kids that are smarter than others NEED TO BE PUNISHED. A Harrison Bergeron moment:

  • California high school axes honors classes in the name of ‘equity’

Parents are fighting back after a California high school eliminated honors English classes, ostensibly to foster racial equity, the New WindowWall Street Journal reported Friday.

“We really feel equity means offering opportunities to students of diverse backgrounds, not taking away opportunities for advanced education and study,” Culver City parent Joanna Schaenman, who helped spearhead the effort, told the WSJ.

So STOPPING honors classes ISN’T “taking away opportunities for advanced education and study“?? Please, will someone square this circle or me?  Otherwise, this is just self-righteous blather. And can you see the logic “hole” in the following?

Those honors classes, which are no longer available, failed to enroll enough black and Latino students. That, in turn, the district reasons, could be part of the reason black and Latino students are also underrepresented in Advanced Placement classes. AP classes are the very classes that can give students a leg up in the college admissions process.

It isn’t just about intellectual capacity for Honors programs. Sure, I knew kids in high school that were FAR smarter than I taking every AP class possible and breezing through them all with almost no time studying. He just had it. We were surprised that he only got an 780 (out of 800 those days) on the Math SAT. What astonished us all is that he knew WHICH problem he got wrong – and why.  He ended up with a bio-engineering degree from MIT and an MD from Harvard.

Which brings up the other part: motivation, or the lack thereof.  Another kid, David M., was almost as smart as Kenny. Got into an Ivy League school – and then flamed out. Ended up in a series of menial jobs that were WAY below his capability.

I bring him up as an example to that last quoted bit – did they not sign up because they knew Honors were too difficult (perhaps some) or that they didn’t have the motivation to strive and do the work. After all, for most of us, brain power and motivation/stick-to-it-iveness are required to be successful.

So Culver City decided to kill off both reasons in one fell swoop.  In doing so, what are they going to do about the kids that are now BORED because nothing is sufficiently challenging to keep their attention?

And I’ll end with this overbearing, full of herself, “credentialed expert” dissing the parents that pay her salary.  People like her in the Educational-Industrial Complex have forgotten who the REAL customer is – those Parents.

  • LOL, A MASTER’S DEGREE.. PROBABLY IN EDUCATION. ALL BOW DOWN TO THIS INTELLECTUAL SUPERSTAR!

Glenn Reynolds (Law Professor) adds something that escapes this Luminary with an obvious truth:

The truth is, the parents have something no educational credential can match: Skin in the game. They’ll live with the consequences of their parenting decisions for the rest of their lives. The teacher will send this year’s kids off and replace them with next year’s kids, and will have no stake in — or even usually knowledge of — how those kids do later. There’s no comparison, and to pretend there is is moral idiocy at best.

And the more teachers act like this one, the more Parents WILL create more school choice for them and their children.  Thus far, this seems to be a concept that is very foreign to educators like her – competition is coming whether you like it or not.

Breaking: Lori Lightfoot Loses – Concedes Chicago Mayoral Election Loss

Wed, 2023-03-01 14:30 +0000

Not long from now, Chicagoans won’t have Mayor Lori Lightfoot to kick around. Our own Ray Cardello predicted it yesterday, and before the night ended, he was proved right. Lightfoot didn’t get enough votes to advance to the runoff election in April.

Related: Say Goodbye to Lori Lightfoot

Chicago mayoral candidates Paul Vallas and Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson are projected to advance to the April runoff election, according to the New York Times.

Lightfoot’s tenure was marred by significant crime concerns, an issue that stood at the forefront of the mayor’s race. Vallas, in particular, campaigned on addressing the city’s crime levels and earned the support of

Vallas claimed 34.9% of the vote in a nine-way race while Johnson claimed 20.2%. Lightfoot trailed in third place with 16.4% of the vote.

Lightfoot has had an exciting tenure which we’ve documented to some degree on these humble pages.

  • Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot Succumbs to the Heckler’s Veto (Like Most Supine Democrat-Run-City Mayors)
  • Lightfoot Treads Heavily – No White Reporters Allowed

Stop the Marxist Takeover of Our Libraries

Wed, 2023-03-01 13:00 +0000

I had a guest on my Immigrants Speak weekly show a few days ago: Xi Van Fleet, who has appeared previously on Fox News calling out how Critical Race Theory is being used to divide American citizens; much like how Mao used Critical Class Theory.

After fleeing China, Ms. Xi studied in the US and obtained a Master’s degree in library science and has been passionate about book collections in our public libraries. On my show, Xi showed us children’s books that she has found in her local public library and discusses how these books are used to push “woke” ideologies on children.

We see today trends in US schools and public libraries promoting ideological and age-inappropriate books and events for children that we saw in the Mao era.

We have discovered similar books being used in my own town of Weare town school district as well. We must inform the parents and get them engaged in their kids’ schools. Local elections are coming up in New Hampshire. Make sure you vote for the people who represent your values to serve on your local school boards and selectmen boards.

Please share this video: Immigrants Speak Week 7: Stop the Marxist Takeover of Our Libraries – YouTube.

I was interviewed by One America News Monica Paige last week. Is America following the Chinese Communist Blueprint? (rumble.com)

I have been warning people about this Chinese Blueprint for years, but my political posts seem to be slow-rolled and shadow-banned on social media. Even my video below disappeared from the Bing search engine for over a week.  Was it because my co-host exposed how AmeriCorps, funded by the Federal government, provides woke training to employees like her?  All she wants to do is help tutor in elementary schools. Help us spread the truth by sending the following video to your network. Censorship is the enemy of a free society.

No … Because There Is No Plausible Case

Wed, 2023-03-01 02:30 +0000

I want to address a comment to The Ghost Of New Hampshire Future Visited On February 23rd. Here is the comment:

My response: NO … BECAUSE THERE IS NO PLAUSIBLE CASE … which is precisely the point of my post. New Hampshire has been trending blue since 1992 … 1988 was the last time a GOP Presidential candidate got more than 50 percent of the vote … not a straight line, but the overall trajectory was LEFTWARD HO!

The rate of blue-ification was increased exponentially by Sun-King Sununu’s COVID tyranny. I provided the example of Hassan receiving 55,000 more votes in 2022 than in 2016. You want more … Pappas had the same margin of victory during the “Red Wave” of 2022 as during the “Blue Wave” of 2018.

South Carolina’s Proposed ‘Yankee Tax’ Looks Hinkey to Me …

Wed, 2023-03-01 01:00 +0000

Republicans in South Carolina (SC) have proposed a bill that adds $250.00 to the cost of vehicle registrations for people who move to the state. They claim it is meant to cover infrastructure costs (wear and tear), but I’m calling BS.

Before the pandemic mistakes, SC scored about 24 billion in estimated annual tourism revenue (2019)—beneficiaries of the Trump Economy. That was a lot of people using roads and bridges that “paid their way” at hotels, venues, restaurants, and retail outlets while also paying gas, sales taxes, and tolls, and then left. But the state is struggling to get back to that number, and the Biden economy has hit people hard, so that’s not coming back as soon as they need it.

Big hole, that. But people are moving to South Carolina in droves.

South Carolina was one of the top ten states to move to in 2022, alongside Arizona, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Texas, according to a recent report. In the last ten years, South Carolina has grown by roughly 500,000 people with many people coming from nearby North Carolina and Georgia.

Why not tap into that shift by charging newcomers a ‘small’ relocation fee?

The tax, proposed by Republican State Sen. Stephen Goldfinch, would add on an additional $250 fee to the $250 already paid by new transplants to register their vehicles. The money would go toward infrastructure in the state.

I’m offended on several levels. These new residents will, like tourists, add revenue by paying your gas and sales taxes daily. Their employers will pay more taxes for their productivity, and they will pay the state’s graduated income tax. The Palmetto State benefits from their stable permanence, and in return, you fine them $250.00 for showing up, more if they have additional vehicles.

“We in South Carolina don’t require a capital contribution of anybody that moves here from out of state, although they take advantage of our roads, our bridges, our schools, and our green spaces immediately on day one,” Goldfinch said.

Just like tourists who spend and leave, except that you’ve been a bit short on tourism lately, and if people love the state that much, what’s a few hundred bucks at the beginning of the relationship for people from high-tax cities and states?

Except that you’re supposed to be Republicans. When revenues fail to meet expectations, you look for ways to reduce spending – something you should do anyway. Nothing is as attractive as a lean government that gets it done without all the excess fat associated with bloated Democrat bureaucracies.

So I think you’ve got it backward.

You should offer people a discount on their vehicle registrations for the first year and maybe lower some taxes while you’re at it. More revenue from lower taxes is real, and with the Biden economy weighing us all down, the folks that already live there will find themselves with a few more dollars to make ends meet.

And you might attract more tourists too.

OK, It’s Early But NH Governor Chris Sununu DID Draw a Line In The Sand On This

And that would be this:

Hangover: An “Evergreen” statement by Sununu himself on low-rated wannabes:

Mr. Sununu also warned minor candidates not to carve up the field.

“I think there’s a lot of hope and opportunity for good candidates to get in, drive the message where it needs to be,” he said. “But the discipline is getting out, too. The discipline and saying, ‘Look, you’re only polling at 5%, you got to get out.’ We don’t want a crowded field here.”

So, I’m going to hold him to it.  So, how is he doing?  The phrase “5%, you got to get out” is going to haunt him. Sure, within the small fishbowl that is NH, he’s a big fish but out in the pond, if you take these polls correctly, he isn’t even at tadpole level:

From Fox News Sunday with Shannon Bream – is Sununu there?

Er, no, not even close.  Maybe here?

Er, no. You’d think that since he’s already been out on the hastings/circuits for well over a month, he’d show up on some poll SOMEWHERE, right?  Well, it isn’t here, either:

Q5: If the candidates in the Republican Presidential Primary were Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, Mike
Pence, Nikki Haley, Mike Pompeo and Tim Scott, for whom would you vote?
Donald Trump: 30%
Ron DeSantis: 17%
Mike Pence: 9%
Nikki Haley: 9%
Mike Pompeo: 9%
Tim Scott: 2%
Someone else: 6%
Undecided: 19%

Obviously the pollster didn’t think he matters (at least at this point). Rassmussen?  Dissed again.  How about Morning Consult?

(Click to embiggen)

Nada on BetFair or Election Betting Odds. Looks like Sununu is not getting love yet…

…but it’s clear he has no love for Trump:

“And look, my message to, about President Trump is we thank you for your service. Great, but we’re moving on. Americans are not in the mode of just settling. Right? We’re never going to say, ‘The best opportunity for tomorrow’s leadership is yesterday’s leadership.’ We want the next generation. We want the next big idea.”

Sununu added, “The former president is kind of baked in. Either you are with him, or you are not. I don’t think anything’s going to get his poll numbers up. And as this race actually heats up and people start paying attention, there’s just going to be a lot of other options on the table.”

And again, he’s setting up The Sununu Rule – and we will hold him to it:

Anchor Bret Baier [Fox News Special Report with Bret Baier said, “And for the people who say the more candidates get in – if you choose to – the more the chances are that the former president shoots the gap and becomes the nominee?”

Sununu said, “So here’s the key. I don’t care how many get in. You got to have the discipline to get out. And that’s what a lot of folks did not have in ’16.”

Garage and Outdoor Living Space Design and Improvement in Edmonton

Tue, 2023-02-28 22:41 +0000

Your garage and outdoor living space can be some of the most important areas of your home. The garage serves as a functional space for storage and protection of vehicles and other items, while outdoor living spaces provide a relaxing and entertaining area for family and guests. If you want to improve your garage or outdoor living space in Edmonton, several design and improvement ideas should be considered.

Garage Improvement Ideas Garage Door Replacement

One of the most common garage improvement projects is garage door replacement. A new garage door not only enhances the curb appeal of your home but also improves functionality and security. With the advancements in technology, you can choose from a wide variety of materials, styles, and colors to match your home’s exterior. Additionally, insulation and weatherstripping can be added to reduce energy costs and improve comfort.

Garage Storage System

Another garage improvement project is a garage storage system. Many homeowners in Edmonton use their garages as storage areas, which can result in clutter and disorganization. A garage storage system can help you to maximize storage space, increase organization, and improve functionality. There are many options for garage storage systems, including overhead storage racks, wall-mounted storage systems, and custom cabinetry.

Garage Lighting Upgrade

Upgrading your garage lighting can make a significant difference in your overall garage improvement project. Many garages have poor lighting, making it difficult to work or find items. Upgrading to LED lighting can improve visibility and reduce energy costs. You can also consider adding task lighting or accent lighting to highlight specific areas of your garage.

Workbench or Workspace Addition

Adding a workbench or workspace is another idea for a garage improvement project. If you enjoy DIY projects or have hobbies that require a workspace, adding a workbench can be a valuable addition to your garage. You can also add cabinets or shelving to store tools and supplies.

Outdoor Living Space Improvement Ideas

Patio or Deck Installation

One of the most popular outdoor living space projects is a patio or deck installation. A patio or deck can create a functional outdoor living area for dining, entertaining, and relaxing. There are many materials to choose from, including wood, composite, and concrete, and a variety of designs to fit your style and budget. You can also add outdoor furniture, such as tables, chairs, and lounge chairs, to make it a comfortable and inviting space.

Landscaping

Landscaping is another outdoor living space improvement project to consider. A well-designed landscape can enhance your home’s beauty and value while providing a relaxing and inviting atmosphere. Consider adding features such as plants, trees, flowers, lighting, and water features to create a natural and inviting environment. You can also add pathways, retaining walls, or a gazebo to create a unique and personalized space.

Outdoor Kitchen or Bar Area

One popular trend is to create an outdoor kitchen or bar area. This can be a great addition if you enjoy hosting outdoor parties or barbecues. You can include a grill, refrigerator, sink, and other features to make it a functional and inviting area. You can also add outdoor lighting, heating, or sound systems to make it a comfortable and entertaining space.

Fire Pit or Outdoor Fireplace

Another outdoor living space improvement idea is to add a fire pit or outdoor fireplace. This can be a great addition to cool evenings or nights spent with friends and family. You can choose from a variety of materials and styles, including gas or wood-burning options. You can also add seating, such as chairs or benches, to make it a comfortable and cozy area.

Choosing the Right Contractor

When it comes to improving your garage or outdoor living space, it is important to work with a contractor who has experience and expertise in these types of projects. Look for a contractor who specializes in garage door replacement, garage storage systems, patio and deck installation, landscaping, and outdoor living space design. Canadian garage door repair Edmonton offers these services and is a reputable contractor in your area. You can also ask for recommendations from friends, family, or neighbors. Make sure to read reviews, check credentials, and ask for references before hiring a contractor.

Planning Your Project

Before starting your project, it is important to plan and budget accordingly. Make a list of your goals and priorities, and determine what aspects of your garage or outdoor living space you want to improve. You should also consider the size of your garage and outdoor living space, your budget, and your timeline for completion. Working with a contractor or designer can help you to create a plan that fits your needs and budget, and ensures that your project is completed on time and within budget.

Permits and Regulations

When making improvements to your garage or outdoor living space, it is important to consider permits and regulations. You may need to obtain a permit from your local government before starting your project, depending on the scope of the work. You should also ensure that your project complies with local building codes and regulations to avoid any fines or legal issues down the line.

Maintenance and Upkeep

Once your garage or outdoor living space improvement project is complete, it is important to keep up with regular maintenance and upkeep. For your garage, you should regularly clean and organize your storage system, replace any damaged or worn components, and lubricate your garage door to ensure smooth operation. For your outdoor living space, you should regularly clean and maintain your furniture, plants, and other features, and ensure that your lighting and heating systems are in good working condition.

In addition to regular maintenance, it is also a good idea to periodically assess your garage or outdoor living space to determine if any additional improvements or upgrades are needed. For example, you may want to add more lighting or storage to your garage or upgrade your outdoor furniture or heating system.

Finally, don’t forget to enjoy your newly improved garage or outdoor living space! Whether it’s spending time with family and friends on your new patio or deck, working on DIY projects in your organized and functional garage, or cooking and entertaining in your new outdoor kitchen or bar area, your improved spaces are meant to be enjoyed.

Conclusion

Improving your garage or outdoor living space in Edmonton can be a rewarding and valuable investment in your home. By choosing the right improvements, working with a professional contractor, and keeping up with maintenance and upkeep, you can create functional and beautiful spaces that enhance your quality of life and add value to your home. With the many improvement ideas available, including garage door replacement, garage storage systems, patio and deck installation, landscaping, outdoor kitchens, fire pits, and more, the possibilities are endless. Start planning your project today and enjoy your improved spaces for years to come.

Damn Right We Should Build A Choo Choo To Beantown

Tue, 2023-02-28 22:00 +0000

If we can spend billions on padding the pockets of the military-industrial complex and the kleptocrat Zelensky … yes, I am talking about the war in Ukraine, which should be called the Deep State’s War of Aggression Against Russia, given its true genesis was the Obama-regime’s 2014 coup which installed a Western-puppet-government in Kyiv.

If we can spend hundreds of millions ANNUALLY on funding a public education system that spends MOST of that money outside the classroom on who-knows-what, including race-based-socialism euphemistically called Diversity-Equity-Inclusion, then we can spend a paltry $17 million a year on rail to Boston.

This tweet from Mikey Graham is so LAUGHABLE.

$17 million a year is a rounding error on the waste, fraud, and corruption in funding public education. We know most of the money spent on public education is spent OUTSIDE the classroom; that is, it never reaches the classroom. But it’s treated as absolutely normal by New Hampshire’s faux “fiscal conservatives” to waste far, far, far in excess of $17 million a year on D-E-I and who knows what else, while railing (pun intended) against the Choo Choo to Beantown.

ENOUGH … I want my piece of the grift! The grift shouldn’t be just for Ukrainian kleptocrats, the military-industrial complex, the D-E-I hustlers, etc. etc. etc. I want some too! … JUST BUILD THE DAMN CHOO CHOO!!!!!

So have at at it commentators. Explain to me how it’s big-government to subsidize the choo choo because  “if there were a demand for a choo choo, the free market would meet that demand … ” yet it’s somehow not big government to force taxpayers to subsidize big-developers to build your precious “workforce housing” … . Educate me about how the hundreds of millions per year of waste and fraud in our public education budgets is fiscally conservative, but spending a pittance of that on a choo choo makes you a big spending liberal. To cut to the chase, explain to me how it’s so easy for the Sununicans  and the other grifters in the NHGOP to manipulate you.

NH’s Housing Crisis: a Product of Vocal NIMBYs and a Silent Majority

Tue, 2023-02-28 20:30 +0000

So how do Granite Staters really feel about the housing shortage? According to a recent Saint Anselm College poll, two-thirds of New Hampshire voters agree that their community needs more affordable housing.

We want to thank Alexa Carpenter for this Op-Ed. Please submit yours to Editor@GraniteGrok.com.

Considering NH is short of 20,000 units needed to balance the market, this finding should not come as a shock.

However, what is shocking is how much the other third limits development across the state. That’s right, often it’s the minority of opponents who sway a town’s decisions over development, no matter how much broader support exists. Why? Because decisions are made by those who show up, and typically, those who show up for project approvals are homeowners who refuse changes to their neighborhood’s status quo. In fact, 85% of development meeting attendees are opponents, and this leaves a small opportunity for support to shine through, despite its existence. The problem with this is how much it skews the picture of community perception toward development. Despite its distortion, this picture influences the outcome of housing projects all the same.

New research from Katherine Einstein, a Boston University political science professor, reinforces these findings. According to Einstein, a distorted picture of public consensus is a staple of the housing approvals process in New England. And recognizing the sway that homeowners have over the development process, Einstein set out to identify the demographics of those who typically attend project meetings, specifically where affordable or multifamily housing is proposed. What she found was that those “who show up are privileged, whiter, older, homeowners, who also overwhelmingly opposed development, with only 15% who showed support.” And this crowd has no problem influencing decisions that impact the wider community.

So what’s the end result of all of this? Land use boards often yield to the wishes of the outspoken, meaning development proposals (outside the scope of single-family homes) are squashed and the inventory remains stagnant. Without a diverse housing stock, communities have fewer resources to support residents of diverse economic backgrounds and fewer resources to support adults as they age.

Although development-dissenters may think they’re “preserving” their neighborhoods with single-family-only housing, we are seeing the opposite effect take place. Ultimately, communities suffer without adequate resources to support all classes of people. Without enough multifamily homes, condos, or workforce housing, communities lose their young people, businesses lose their workers, and the remaining homeowners sacrifice what they intended to protect in the first place: community vitality and property values, compromised by lost workers and closing businesses. It’s time to wake up and recognize that our resistance toward diverse forms of housing is not informed by fact, but by fear. And the consequences of this fear spare no one—homeowner or not.

There will be a response to this submission.  -Skip

“More Warming Causes Cooling” as Epic Winter Storm Turns Southern California White (With Snow)

Tue, 2023-02-28 19:00 +0000

Over the weekend, Southern California got something they’ve not seen in decades. San Diego issued it’s first ever blizzard waring. Yes, Snow you can shovel.

Residents across the Southland woke up to an icy wonderland Sunday morning, the result of an frigid winter storm that broke rainfall records and scattered fresh powder at elevations as low as 1,000 feet across the normally warm, sun-drenched region. Mountain communities were slammed by intense snowfall, with Mountain High ski resort clocking an impressive 93 inches of snow. ..

The storm, which originated in the Gulf of Alaska, tapped into an atmospheric river system — a powerful plume of moisture that can deliver large amounts of precipitation. Sunday marked a short reprieve from the wet weather, with another series of storms set to hit during the week.

More rain and snow are on the way, which is good news for the state, but it could be better. It is so mismanaged that most of it will run off into the ocean instead of being secured for future use when the climate shifts. Famous for drought reporting and water rationing, the state’s perennial Democrat rulers waste billions on the wrong sorts of environmental interventions. Preferring virtue signaling and money laundering to long-term benefit or value.

Forest management is historically lousy and the cause of wildfires that often result in millions in property damage and loss of life. And they’d rather siphon off resources to force people into pricey EVs they can’t charge than develop affordable energy, build reservoirs, or desalination plants.

And they need them. For all the talk of drought, California has been in a wet cycle for over 500 years.

Statewide precip numbers since 1895 show a nearly flat trend to the hundred-year mean of 22 inches per year.

So, even in its wet cycle California is almost always at or near a state of drought which its massive population only makes worse. That much demand for water in a state that doesn’t get much of it when the climate is favorable (and mismanages that) is not a barometer for America or the world.

The place is dry most of the time, but not this year, and that’s a problem too. IThe CO2 drought model doesn’t stand up well to history of the current burst of precipitation, which, if you look at the last 120 years, isn’t odd or tied to CO2 either.

And yes! I went looking, and sure enough, Tony Heller was on top of the recent California weather and the history of media lies.

New Hampshire Convention of States Resolution DEFEATED

Tue, 2023-02-28 17:30 +0000

We were disappointed to see that 156 Republicans voted like SHEEP (YES) on HCR1, a call for a Constitutional Convention to AMEND the US Constitution. When confronted, many spouted the very talking points we have heard from the COS lobbyists.

Please Submit Group communications or Press Releases to editor@granitegrok.com.
Submission is not a guarantee of publication.

These lobbyists donate lots of money to candidates, who then are obliged to vote their way, despite our sending them good information as to why this is NOT a good idea. The bottom line is, while we would love to see a balanced budget and term limits, endangering our US Constitution is NOT the way to do it. The proponents of the COS claim that the constitution cannot be replaced, but if that is true, why then have more than three new PROGRESSIVE versions of it been written? This is the bottom-line argument that should overshadow any other in argument that favors this process. Liberals from Harvard started the movement, and this is their goal.

HCR4 is yet another push for the COS. This bill also must be defeated.

HB44 – DEFEATED

House Bill 44 would have allowed your current single-family neighborhood to be turned into a multi-family neighborhood if homes are connected to municipal sewer and water. Many traditional neighborhoods would have been at risk. In Bedford for example, some traditional single-family neighborhoods were forced to connect to Manchester’s system due to PFAS and transfer station runoff. Most had no idea what this bill could have done to their neighborhood.

COMMUTER RAIL – DEFEATED

Bringing the MBTA up to NH was squashed for now by a vote of 3-2 in the Executive Council. We have done plenty of research on this matter with guidance from a transportation engineer. One only needs to read about the problems with the MBTA of late to know that it would be a loss for NH taxpayers.

There is still another bill, HB110, which would block taxpayer funding of future rail projects. It is uncertain at this time where this bill is headed as it was retained in committee.

BAD NEWS

HB347 – PASSED

HB 347 is a bill that would create a Land Court. This gives yet a 3rd way for developers to run roughshod over your town vote. It does NOT eradicate the unconstitutional Housing Appeals Board (HAB) It would still have to be run through a Senate committee then pass the full Senate. The way the Senate has been jonesing for housing giveaways and takeovers, we are not optimistic it can be stopped. The Governor himself is big into AFFH (Obama’s Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing act) so we can’t depend on a veto from him either. When it comes to the Senate we can try, however.

COMING UP

SB231 is the mother of all housing doozies. It is a $75M giveaway in part to developers to build low-income, high-density housing anywhere in NH. NH Senators Dan Innis and Jeb Bradley think that NH doesn’t have enough apartment buildings and that your town vote should not matter when it comes to how you want to let your town develop. This is another push to eradicate local control. Did anyone tell these folks that the state should have no business controlling housing with regard to what is built and where? Having plenty of jobs is a NH Advantage, not a minus. It is not up to the government to provide places for workers to live. We are sure this bill will pass the full Senate but the question is, will they allow it to cross to the House for a vote or will they sneak it into the budget like they did to pass the HAB which had failed 3 times before? Stay tuned for the details.

WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS?

Stop Taxpayer Funded Lobbying! – Special government sectors such as the Office of Planning and Development and groups such as the House Special Committee on Housing are basically taxpayer-funded lobbying. It seems whenever the Governor can’t get his bills passed, he creates another ‘commission’ to grease the wheels in the legislature.

No One Blamed “Climate Change” for Re-Emergence of ‘Extinct’ Orchid in Vermont

Tue, 2023-02-28 16:00 +0000

Not a new story but knew to me and maybe you, as well as something with which we are all familiar. Last summer a rare, thought extinct (in Vermont) orchid was discovered, and no one blamed climate change.

Whenever something is diminished or goes away, the first order of business is to feed the climate cult narrative. You did this, you awful person. It’s your fault we must launder your tax dollars through our friends and family networks to fix it where “fix” means more taxes, bigger bureaucracy, higher prices, and less freedom.

I just got a sort-of Papa John’s vibe there. More taxes, Less Freedom – Democrat Party.

Anyway, last summer,

Botanists with the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department said two local scientists alerted them to a population of small whorled pogonia, which was considered extinct in Vermont since 1902 and listed as threatened under the Federal Endangered Species Act.

They have done their due diligence to protect the clutch or rare things and plot a path to secure its re-emergence. But where did they come from? Johnny small-whorled-pogonia-seed isn’t responsible, so how did they find their way back?  They never left.

The Smithsonian did some actual research and discovered,

Orchids can hide. Members of this diverse family of plants, known for their wildly attractive flowers, have long been recognized for their ability to enter extended periods of dormancy—sometimes for a year or longer. The plants take refuge underground, and with no leaves and no need for photosynthesis, the orchids rely on fungi for the nutrients they need to survive.  …

[The whorled pogonia] is an extremely rare orchid and as rare as it is, it’s not as rare as we thought because it spends a lot of time hiding out underground,” says Smithsonian ecologist Melissa McCormick, one of the authors of the paper. “We had done some previous research into orchid mycorrhizal fungi. . . we were interested in whether the abundance of fungi in the soil was affecting not just where they are, but also when they emerge.”

The orchid has been hiding for 121 years or, more likely, sparsely present and unnoticed at varying times across that span. In other words, if anyone said your comfortable western lifestyle was to blame for this missing American orchid, they weren’t correct. It was the absence of the correct fungus because of your comfortable western lifestyle. I’m sure that’s coming, so be prepared.

Nothing is ever natural because there is no fiscal or political upside for progressives or the government they worship.

A Marshall University Professor Said That You Have to EARN Your Second Amendment Right to Own and Carry.

Tue, 2023-02-28 14:30 +0000

That would be Chris White who is against what this W. Virginia bill would allow (reformatted, emphasis mine) this restoration of a specific Right in a certain location and whose view can be seen as “Safetyism trumps EVERYTHING!” (er, I’ve heard something like this before Chris Sununu, can you help me out on this):

A West Virginia bill allowing concealed guns at colleges is one step away from law

A bill that would allow people to carry concealed weapons at public college campuses in West Virginia passed by a landslide in the state’s House of Delegates on Tuesday…The Campus Self-Defense Act was passed 29-4 in the state’s Senate chamber last week and then 84-13 in the state’s House on Tuesday…The measure now heads to the desk of Gov. Jim Justice,a Republican. He hasn’t made any public indication of whether he will sign it into law.

<snip>

Marshall University professor Chris White said the bill doesn’t have enough safety measures in place. Formerly a Marine Corps infantryman, he referenced months of training that military and police officers go through “to earn that Second Amendment right and carry those weapons in public.”

“None of those safety controls will be imposed on our students or anybody else who comes on to campus,” White said, according to WVPB.

Too bad for you. I do wonder if the “good” Professor has studied up on that part of the US Constitution that he took an oath to protect and defend.  This means he has to observe and “affirm” (like how the Trans-Authoritarisms demand we affirm their lifestyle choices – or else!) as well. Most professors are supposed to be smart so one would think that Prof. White would be careful about his word selection and sentence construction.

I also know that a couple of Groksters, both prior US Marines (a retired Lt. Col. and another a retired Chief Warrant Office who oversaw the armory at Parris Island), would have GRAVE consternations over his mandate that a Right is superseded by mandatory training…

Sidenote: Can we demand that White take a re-training class on both an English class and the US Constitution before he ideologically blubbers over it?  Free Speech is a Right so what’s good for my gander should be dandy for his, yes?

…simply because (my words, not from NPR’s post):

Rights are inherent to being a human and not “earned”. Rights are also not geolocated, either.

“Earned” means that it is a privilege, not a Right. Which means that Government would grant such at its whim. Or not.

Not Sorry: Rights override Government.  Government doesn’t create Rights nor hand them out – God and Nature’s God do and our Constitution recognizes it. Government can only deprecate or remove your ability to use your Rights.

I do wonder if the “good” Professor has studied up on that part of the US Constitution that he took an oath to protect and defend as a Marine.  That oath meant that he has to observe and “affirm” it as well.

Doesn’t seem like it, does it?

Bending a Knee to the Left Ends Here

Tue, 2023-02-28 13:00 +0000

Help Wanted: Conservative NH Blog needs a corporate planner. Candidates must be female or trans. Though we prefer Black, Brown or Red is acceptable. Must be 18-24, Single, and living alone. Applicant must be bi-sexual and not belong to any religious order.

Apply in person.

Of course, that is satirical, but isn’t that what Joe Biden has done with every position he has filled? That includes his Vice president and Supreme Court appointment. This is pure racism, and it is ugly.

If I had ever posted a classified ad like this one, I would have been guilty of at least eight violations on discriminatory grounds…..but not the Biden team. They pledged diversity and have striven to hire on those terms and competence be damned. The poor results prove the success of this mission statement.

From the onset, Biden worked very hard to fill cabinet positions with females, and sometimes, specifically, black women. Gay appointments, like Buttigieg and Karine Jean-Pierre, were integral, and neither is competent to fill their roles. We have a trans assistant surgeon General in Dr. Rachel Levine. She must be salivating at the movement to coach gender reassignment in elementary schools. Buttigieg is a gay mother and has not a clue what he is doing in Transportation And, Karine Jean-Pierre is totally out of her league, but she cannot be released as she checks three boxes; Black, Gay, and female. She cannot formulate an answer that is not prepared in her notebook, but she is valuable. She checks off three boxes.

When did Joe Biden lose his way? When was he infected by the Woke crowd? Is the Woke movement so powerful that you must abandon
your principles, disavow what you know is right and wrong, and bend your knee as the only way to succeed? But succeed for who? Certainly not America.

What you do when you get on that knee is allow the Left to win. They need us to succumb to their ideology. We in the 40-plus age group are the final obstacle. They have indoctrinated the Millennials, Gen-X, and Gen-z through our schools and media. They have sold them on the horrors of our past and the lies of our future. They are at war with the Boomers, and they are winning. We can win this war, but it starts with saying No, not on my watch.

Their arguments are based on emotion and failed theory. Climate change, BLM, and even the war on Capitalism are to make us feel guilty about our past and to atone for the sins of our ancestors who made this great country. We must arm ourselves with the facts and confront their accusations at every level. It angers me when someone interviewed makes an off-the-wall comment, and nobody dares to say you are wrong. When conversing with your friends, and someone spouts Progressive talking points, you have to say no politely. Let me give you the truth. We must keep writing and getting our opinions published, ensuring they are factual and win this media blitz from the Left.

It will not be easy and will take time, but we must start today. The future of this grand experiment stands in the balance. We can bring her back.

On this day in 202 BC, Liu Bang’s coronation begins four centuries of Han Dynasty rule over China. The Republican Party was formally organized in Ripon, Wisconsin (1854).

First up, an Inconvenient Truth about Al Gore …

I have no clue how often Algore said this or each time span, but he’s made numerous predictions like it, and none of them have come to pass. We can cut the S… poster who created some slack – Gore is a fraud.

Big Ron To The Rescue

There really are at least two Republican Parties. One is the GOP of Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan … a pack of globalist/corporatist grifters that serves as the controlled opposition to the Biden-regime in order to give the illusion of democracy to cover their pilfering of America … billions for the Ukraine, not a penny for the Trump voters in East Palestine. Sun-King Sununu … COVID-Tyrant and Lord-of-the-Woke … belongs to that Republican Party.

The other Republican Party mainly exists outside of DC. These are the real Republicans. The real Republican Party has no official leader … but its two most prominent figures are Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis. Here is big Ron really Republicaning. Every State with a Republican Governor and Republican legislature should do at least as much:

Grokster Ian has a great line in a comment he left on “2024 Presidential Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy Event: 2023-02-22 – Panel Discussion with Vivek and Drew Cline“; it’s actually repeated twice and written differently.

We REPUBLICANS here in NH, now that the Democrat National Committee has rejected NH Democrat Chair Ray Buckley and his cohort, still have the chance to thoroughly vet potential Presidential candidates.  Using lines and questions gained from one SHOULD be used with others such as to be able to do A to B to C to…Z comparisons with those A-Z candidates. Emphasis mine:

A while ago, I stopped listening to what congressional candidates were saying about what they believe (or don’t), what they will do (or won’t), and so on, unless they would answer one question first: Watch The Swamp, and then explain why you’re not going to end up the same as all those guys.

https://granitegrok.com/blo...

I agree with Vivek on some things and disagree with him on others, but none of it seems relevant to me until he answers this question: Trump came to Washington as an outsider, beholden to no one, and still he was blocked at every turn. What is your explanation for how that happened, and why won’t it happen to you?

In the end, nothing is going to change until there’s a President who will tell the Supreme Court that — contrary to what John Marshall and Charles Evans Hughes claimed — the judiciary doesn’t get to say that the Constitution means whatever they want it to.

We haven’t had one of those since Andrew Jackson said to John Marshall: You’ve made your decision, go ahead and enforce it. I was hoping Trump would do that. He seemed to have the necessary temperament, and he certainly had enough opportunities, but he caved every time.

Why should I believe that Vivek will be any different? When he says, ‘The Constitution tells me that I can do X’, and the Supreme Court says, ‘No, the Constitution says that you must do Y’, what will he do? If he doesn’t have a plan for that, none of his other plans matter at all, any more than Trump’s did.

He’s right – while being President is a very powerful position, it is still subject to push back, as Ian notes, by SCOTUS.  Actually, should be as there have been executive actions taken by Biden that were blatantly unconstitutional and outside any passed Law – but he tried to get away with it anyways (pandemic eviction bans, for one example). Congress, too, wants its way as well.

The biggest issue that we saw with Trump wasn’t just with SCOTUS and Congress but mere Executive Branch employees with the attitude of “screw him, he’s a Republican – we’ll just wait him out as well as ignore him now”. Personnel IS Policy – or “non-policy” if you have the wrong employees.

So a secondary question should be in bolstering Ian’s question is this:

Ready to wind the clock back and make the “Civil Service” a political spoils system again to prevent this LARGE problem?

After all, you can’t execute the Laws if your subordinates won’t obey it or any Executive Orders you give out.

But back to Ian’s question; I generally ask ALL candidates a similar question:

Do you have an unofficial “kitchen cabinet”, a group of long time curmudgeonly friends to keep you on the straight and narrow and have NO problem in SCREAMING at you to get your act together?

I, too, have been convinced by the words of such candidates (successful one) that they’d stay “straight” only to watch them get co-opted, go swamp, and then deny they have (until years have passed and they look critically back on themselves).

Say Goodbye to Lori Lightfoot

Mon, 2023-02-27 23:30 +0000

The good people of Chicago are going to the voting places on Tuesday to take back their city and return it to a safe town for their families to live in. Mayor Lori Lightfoot is currently polling a distant third place and is projected to lose her re-election bid, as she should.

Chicago is the country’s third largest city and has become an illiterate and crime-ridden city under Lighfoot’s watch. Lightfoot is joined by eight other candidates. All have very different solutions to solve Chicago’s crime and education problems but are unified in wanting Lori Lightfoot to be a one-and-done mayor. Lightfoot cannot run on her record, for anyone that can see and hear knows how dangerous the city has become and how costly and ineffective the public education system has become. Lori Lightfoot has failed to deliver on the two most important reasons that people are drawn to a city, safety, and education for their kids.

The latest poll indicates that the people of Chicago have had enough of the Progressive agenda. A new voter opinion survey finds Paul Vallas leading the race for Chicago mayor with 24%, Mayor Lori Lightfoot at 18%, Rep. Chuy Garcia at 16%, and County Commissioner Brandon Johnson at 14.49%. Vallas is the most conservative candidate and has strong ideas to improve education and the police department for the Windy City.

Lightfoot has shown her true colors in this campaign and is using the race card as she sees the election slipping away. She made the following comment to anyone living on the South Side of Chicago:

While speaking to Black voters, Lightfoot said, “any vote coming from the South Side for somebody not named Lightfoot is a vote for Chuy Garcia or Paul Vallas. If you want them controlling your fate and your destiny, then stay home. Then don’t vote.”

The Lightfoot campaign responded quickly, but it was too late. They tried to say that Mayor Lightfoot misspoke and that she urges everyone to exercise their right to vote. Her comments were tantamount to voter suppression And should be condemned. Where is Stacey Abrahms? She should be blasting Lightfoot for her words, but you will never see one Democrat criticize another. Just imagine the outburst had a Republican made that comment.

There is not a single facet of life in Chicago that Lightfoot can claim is better than when she took office. The crime rate is out of sight, with homicides exceeding 700 for three straight years. She has reduced the police force while increasing her detail to 125 officers. The population is falling, and corporations are leaving the city. Even McDonald’s is making noise about closing all of their restaurants in Chicago. She has allowed Ohare Airport to become a homeless camp. The enrollment in Chicago public schools is down, the dropout rate is up, and the cost per student has nearly doubled since 2019. Much more expensive for far less results.

Hypocrisy is the cornerstone of her life and administration. Tuesday may be the end of her moment in the spotlight. Chicago will be better for her leaving.
