New Hampshire’s Cost per Pupil Continues to Rise

Granite Grok - Sat, 2023-01-07 14:30 +0000

CONCORD, NH (Jan. 6, 2023) — New data shows that New Hampshire’s average cost per student is shifting closer to typical trends following a substantial spike during the pandemic, however the costs are still rising more quickly than they have historically.

Please Submit Group communications or Press Releases to editor@granitegrok.com.
Submission is not a guarantee of publication.

“This week, the New Hampshire Department of Education released its newest cost per pupil data for the 2021-2022 school year. The new statewide average cost per pupil of $19,399.97* is a 5.24 percent increase from the year prior,” said Frank Edelblut, education commissioner.

Total operating expenses for the 2021-2022 school year were about $3.5 billion in New Hampshire.

Pre-pandemic, the cost per pupil in New Hampshire increased, on average, about 3.1 percent (1.5 percent adjusted for inflation) each year from 2012 to 2019. However, for the 2020-2021 school year, the state average cost per pupil was $18,434 – a 9.57 percent increase from the year prior – reflecting an increase associated with federal and state COVID-relief funds.

With the newest cost per pupil increase of 5.24 percent, it is important to note that student enrollment across the state, as previously reported here, is steadily declining with 161,755 students now enrolled in New Hampshire’s public schools. As schools prepare their future budgets, local school districts will be grappling with high inflation costs, as well as the expiration of extraordinary levels of COVID-relief funding.

The statewide average for New Hampshire’s cost per pupil has increased by 78.4 percent since 2000; during this same time frame, public school enrollment dropped by an average of 21 percent statewide.

Included in this press release is an attachment that compares student enrollment for individual school districts and their cost per pupil throughout the past 20 years. Also attached is a summary of the cost per pupil for each district.

*The cost per pupil represents, with certain adjustments, current expenditures from all funding sources (local, state and federal) associated with the daily operation of schools. Payments to other school districts and private schools have been subtracted, as well as capital items, bond interest and facility construction. Revenues from the sales of lunches have also been excluded.

Burlington VT Mayor and City Council Want More Cops But Will They Have Their Back – And Why Would They?

Granite Grok - Sat, 2023-01-07 13:00 +0000

If you looked through the haze and smoke from all those peaceful protests back in 2020, you saw some things. The Democrat Cop haters running Burlington, Vermont, for example, defunded the city police force. Before that, they had 92 sworn officers. Today, they are down to sixty-three, twenty-two of whom are on actual patrol. Why yes, crime is up.

We’ve been along for the ride, reporting on the slow-motion disaster that is Democrat rule in Burlington. A case study in progressive policy unfolding before our eyes. Yes, Burington has been a hippie haven for decades, but only recently have those decades piled up like snow and fallen over the back of the plow blade.

Democrats cannot accept that policy failures in other Democrat dumps doing business as urban plantations could produce similar results under their caring and thoughtful watch. Or perhaps they see them less as failures and more as opportunities to grow the government. Bureaucrats are like sandbags that hold back the swell of discontent. More is better, but not when it comes to public safety.

Burlington binged on BLM rhetoric, rushing to virtue signal alongside other Democrat-run cities. Places where a rise in property crime, assault, or murder might not move the needle when added to the hundreds already counted annually. But in Burlington, one extra murder is a big deal, as is the more significant rise in property crime. Illegal border crossings into the sanctuary State of Vermont have risen exponentially, even in winter. And they invited all of this upon themselves.

Burlington has had to authorize more cops, rolling back its promises to BLM. They approved a signing bonus and are looking everywhere to add bodies.

For example, on December 16, three new BPD officers graduated from the Vermont Police Academy and started their fifteen-week field training. Five more officers are anticipated to be hired to attend the next Academy class, which begins in February. The BPD is also hiring Community Service Officers, Community Support Liaisons, Dispatchers, and more.

Community what?

Community Service Officers (CSOs)  are unarmed, unsworn officers who answer quality-of-life calls for service. Historically, the BPD had two; Chief Murad’s plan expanded the number. There are 10 at present, and the FY23 budget allocates for 12. The role is also a stepping stone to becoming a police officer.

Community Support Liaisons (CSLs) are embedded social workers with expertise in mental health, substance use disorder, and houselessness who help address social service issues. There are three CSLs in the hiring pipeline, and  BPD hopes to add six by early 2023.

That’s all well and good. Maybe they can add human resources, but can any officer in Burlington, knowing the city will always be run by narrative-chasing progressives, have any expectation of support?

Are they the next Derek Chauvin, tossed to the media wolves and left to the mercy of Antifa or BLM? It has to be in the back of everyone’s mind, and that will impact every interaction.

Chauvin is in prison for murdering George Floyd, but Floyd had an overdose equivalent of Fentanyl in his blood. The symptoms linked to Chauvin’s restraint of Floyd are similar to that of an overdose. Maybe Chauvin or the other officer a the scene should have suspected. But neither a CSO nor a CSL is prepared to deal with a career criminal like Floyd, which doesn’t keep him from dying from a drug overdose.

I guess we’ll never know. But if you’re a cop, you know that, so why, unless you’re as ill-informed as most Americans, would you go to work for a Democrat city council and Democrat mayor who might toss you under a busload of cameras and microphones at the first chance to virtue signal to their Democrat pals across the increasingly fruitless plains.

They don’t have your back, and the people of Burlington who elected them are to blame.

Ironically enough, they are also the ones who will pay the highest price, for which – if history is any guide – they will continue to reward Democrats and support even bigger budgets while crime rises and public safety declines.

Hey, it’s not all bad news. Traffic stops are down in Burlington. Can you guess why?

Biden’s Bad Immigration Plan is Working Just Fine

Granite Grok - Sat, 2023-01-07 11:30 +0000

Joe Biden held a Cabinet Meeting on Thursday. After having to get directions to the Cabinet meeting room in the White House, he addressed his inept, diverse team and the media. The President had a lot to say, but not much was good for America.

One surprising announcement was that he would go to the Southern Border on Sunday. This Biden trip to El Paso will be his first visit to the Border in the fifty-plus years that Joe has been in Washington. He has been President for two years, and neither Biden nor his Vice President-Border Czar Harris has found time or reason to visit the point of entry of nearly five million illegals on their watch. He blamed Republicans for the crisis on the Border for blocking resources. If you had listened carefully, the resources would have gone to processing and not preventing the assault of illegals every day.

Let’s be clear. The President and his Administration have no plans to secure the Southern Border. Their only objective is to allocate and spend our money on more efficient means to process these illegal immigrants and get them into our country. This plan is dangerous to our National Security. He is convoluting security and efficiency. That rhetoric serves him by assuaging his base, which doesn’t listen to the minutia and places blame on the Republicans. It is a two-for-one bonus for his followers. This act is beyond frustrating and goes directly to infuriating. The number one purpose of the President is to keep the citizens safe. Biden is failing miserably, and what is worse, he does not care.

Biden wants no impediment to the flow of illegal humanity crossing the Border into all four states that share a border with Mexico. An example of his disdain for anyone trying to bolster Border security is his battle with the State of Arizona. The Governor of Arizona was so frustrated by the Federal government ignoring the unfettered flow of illegals into Arizona that he built a makeshift wall using empty storage containers. The Governor did this because he knew the Wall works and the material already paid for with American tax dollars was rusting on a Texas desert. The Biden administration proceeded quickly to sue Arizona and, by court order, forced the state to remove the Wall.

It is infuriating that our government has developed a cellphone app that migrants can use to schedule an asylum meeting when they reach the Border. This app makes entry into our country as easy as ordering McDonald’s take-out. Maybe he can modify the app to facilitate these illegals registering to vote. After all, isn’t that his purpose? Millions of illegals flood into our country each year that he is in office, waiting for the President to pave their path to citizenship and padding the Democrat voting base.

All the time Biden pats himself on the back and degrades anyone on the Right, his prop, Kamala Harris, stands motionless at his side. He once again refers to the Vice President as President Harris. Biden does that purposely to send shivers up the spines of Republicans who quake at the thought. He paints the VP as a hero for curbing illegal migration. He cited that she could pull together $3.2 Billion from four Central American countries to create new jobs to keep people at home and away from our Border. First of all, the amount is laughable. It is a pittance and will do nothing to keep significant numbers of men and women from remaining and not fleeing for America. Secondly, if that is the fruit of her two-year effort on the Border Crisis, then shame on her for even standing on the stage. She is a failure.

If not treasonous, Biden is derelict in his duties for what he is doing to harm our National Security. These actions by Biden are all a charade, and our only hope is that people pay attention to his visit. Some news agencies are also making their first trip to the Border, and if the news is accurate, it will be the first taste of the crisis for their viewers. They will be given a sterilized version of the reality, but it may be just enough to get some folks angry. It may help to expose the actual efforts of this Administration, which is to harm this country further. At some point, the Democrats will have to answer for their actions. Hopefully, we can stay intact as a country until that day arrives.

US Congress, the Peoples House Proves It’s a Rigged, Uniparty, Dictatorship

Granite Grok - Sat, 2023-01-07 02:30 +0000

This week the American public is seeing in full colors how our country has been taken over. It’s quoted that this hasn’t happened until the last civil war, which could be a foreshadowing of things to come

We want to thank Neil Johnson for this Contribution – Please direct yours to Editor@GraniteGrok.com.
You can review our ‘Op-Ed Guidelines‘ on the FAQ Page.

The press has us focused on the two sides battling and the 20 “insurrectionists” or “terrorists”. They have our countrymen fighting each other because when they are enemies, they are easy to control. Yet we see people who are supposedly mortal enemies on the floor talking with each other in jovial, business, friendly manners. See they all have the same boss, the uniparty, which goes by many names.

The people of the United States elected 432 people to represent them in congress, yet even before they start their first day at work they are completely controlled, unable to vote their conscience or the for the people who voted them into office. They must vote the party line.

Now a husband and wife going out to dinner may discuss where they go for several minutes, and this is two people who live together and know what each other like. Get a small condo association of 4 people and you’ll likely have trouble getting everyone to agree. If you’re president of a 30 unit condo association and you are going to paint the building, the only thing you know is somebody isn’t going to be happy. Now we look at known hostile completely controlled dictatorships and what do we see? Voting with 93% to 98% of public approval. Yet here we are in America, home of the free, land of the brave and look what’s happened in the peoples’ house.

11 Times…..11 Times the representatives voted exactly how their handlers told them too. 100%!!!!

Even the 2o “troublemakers”, have changed their votes, as would happen with anyone looking for a sane solution, not controlled by their slave master and realizing they are democratically elected to defend our republic.

Our two choices given make us think we have a choice in our future. This is also a tactic used by second grade teachers with their students. They give the student two choice, both of which they want. We get stuck with the lesser of two evils once again. In Vermont we are a bit more sophisticated. We’ll have planners offer the town to vote on 3 proposals, on doesn’t work, the other is too expensive and the one they want makes the most sense, but nobody really wanted that in the first place, it was the free money, the free grant money that paved the way for a stupid idea that nobody asked for or wanted, nor would any sane person spend their own money on it!….Yet it gets passed and the administrators, elected officials, crony capitalists all fill their pockets. The same Is going on in Washington D.C. on a grand scale.

We have been given by the Uniparty, two choices for speaker of the house, both of which don’t work fo the people, and most certainly are under the complete control of their handlers, just like the 412 people we elected in congress that keep voting the exact same way, 100%, 11 times in a row!

Sadly what this shows today is we don’t have a democracy or a republic, cept for 20 people sent to congress. No this is plain for all to see, our elections are rigged, our government in Washington D.C. is clearly rigged. This is pretty major, do we need a civil war? Most definitely NOT!

We the people only need to change our direction. When we all love our neighbor as ourselves things come into harmony. When we realize we are all flawed, all terribly broken, that we are not right, that pride has not taken over all our senses, we won’t fall. Pride is the route of 99% of all fighting. When we make power, money and fame our God, we lose track of our work, our direction in life and our souls. When we go against the natural laws, God’s laws and God’s supernatural laws we find ourselves……doing what we are doing on January 5th, 2022

When the people of the United States submit themselves to a higher power, when they realize they are not in control, that we don’t know everything, when ask for help and assistance, from where and whom everything is controlled, only then by his Grace will we see a change. We are not in control and God does not need anyone of us to help him run the world he created.

Until then, let us hope our necks are not stiffened, and our hearts aren’t so hardened that we can’t change our direction, see our mistakes, and repent. There is a parable, Luke 6:43-45 – New King James Version

A Tree Is Known by Its Fruit
43 “For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. 45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil [a]treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
By their actions we have some very bad fruit in Washington D.C. Lord please forgive us, we know not what we are doing, might you show grace and mercy on your people in this country. I ask in Jesus’ name, Amen.

By their actions we have some very bad fruit in Washington D.C. By their actions they have shown he world and our country they are a rigged, uniparty dictatorship. Lord please forgive us, we know not what we are doing, might you show grace and mercy on your people in this country. I ask in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Not Long From Now Your New Car Could Have a Kill Switch In It

Granite Grok - Sat, 2023-01-07 01:00 +0000

At some point in our lifetimes, somebody decided that legislation proposed in congress must weigh at least 50 pounds, printed; Porkulus, omnibus, in nomine patris et fili et spiritus sancti. Amen. Hidden, like the Holy Spirit, are hordes of provisions or rules that go un advertises. Like a mandate to put kill switches in every new vehicle sold in America.

According to an article written by former U.S. Representative Bob Barr, hidden away in the recently passed infrastructure bill, the very one I warned before would negatively impact drivers across the country if it were to pass, is a measure to install vehicle kill switches into every new car, truck, and SUV sold in this country. The regulation likely won’t be enforced for five years, so maybe there’s time to do something about this.

Law enforcement would have the ability to shut your vehicle down at their convenience. And maybe that doesn’t bother you. You abide by the law. You enjoyed speeding during COVID, but you are usually only a few miles per hour over the posted limit. You use the turn signals, stay between the lines, and have no plans to rob banks or succumb to road rage. What’s the big deal?

It gets even better: Barr points out that the bill, which has been signed into law by President Biden, states that the kill switch, which is referred to as a safety device, must “passively monitor the performance of a driver of a motor vehicle to accurately identify whether that driver may be impaired.” In other words, Big Brother will constantly be monitoring how you drive. If you do something the system has been programmed to recognize as driver impairment, your car could just shut off, which could be incredibly dangerous.

How do you feel about that? Different? Do you want to reach out to your state rep and find out if that’s even legal in your state?

I have not done so yet, but one individual with whom I shared the article suggested that this might be an interstate commerce sort of thing and that there wasn’t much the locals could do, but I disagree.

Yes, the vehicles were made in another state or nation and sold here, that’s interstate commerce, but I rarely leave the state; hence no interstate anything. I have a right to privacy enshrined in the NH state constitution.

[Art.] 2-b. [Right of Privacy.] An individual’s right to live free from governmental intrusion in private or personal information is natural, essential, and inherent.
December 5, 2018

Is my vehicle calling the cops on me, or will this infringement be automated and internal? In other words, is my new theoretical 2028 Biden Pulse two door three cylinder EV (that’s all they sell now) going to strand me in the middle of nowhere at night ( in the rain) becasue I had to swerve multiple times to avoid hitting some deer whose standing weight is greater than that the car?

If a kill switch feature includes an AI that “passively monitor9s) the performance of a driver of a motor vehicle to accurately identify whether that driver may be impaired,” does the AI get a pass becasue it’s not technically the government invading my privacy?  Not yet.

These are not questions of passing fancy or some new conspiracy theory. Rep. Barr says the kill switch is real, and the reporting suggests we’ve got time to address the implication or repeal it in other legislation. And, of course, there’s the potential for legal challenges but not without standing; by then, they are standard equipment.

What’s the next step?

Learn more, and reach out to some folks while we still have time.

And yes, I realize everyone with a smartphone is already being tracked, and by all accounts, the government has unlimited access to this without your knowledge, but you can put your phone in a faraday cage to stop that.

Sun-King Sununu Says “Mandates Are Freedom”

Granite Grok - Fri, 2023-01-06 23:30 +0000

I kid you not. Apparently, our narcissist, self-aggrandizing Sun King gave a speech yesterday in which he proclaimed that the State government protecting people from local and business mask mandates and vaccine mandates is NOT freedom.

This is next level gaslighting … even for the Sun-King. And can you believe he is still pushing COVID-“vaccines” when it is inarguable that they neither prevent infection or, once infected, transmission?

The icing-on-the-cake is that the Sun-King has worked tirelessly to prevent local control of zoning. He calls it work-force housing. I call it Tik-Tok voter housing. But whatever you call it, Sun-King does not believe that the peasants out in the provinces have any right to have a say as to whether the big-developers destroy the character of their town by building apartment complexes.

Tucker Carlson on the Speaker Kerfuffle in the US House – “It Should Be Hard to Become Speaker of the House”

Granite Grok - Fri, 2023-01-06 22:00 +0000

I’ve weighed in on this US House Speaker thingamabob at NHJournal and on these pages, and I’m not in the minority. Not among Groksters or rank-and-file Republicans. It’s not only not embarrassing, but most don’t believe McCarthy should be the House Speaker. This means they are standing with the holdouts in Congress or at least the idea of them.

Business as usual is not unusual, this is, and it’s got people paying attention to something that typically happens with a wink and a nod and barely any media.

My take, and you can read it or reread it here, can be summed up like this. “Remember the rules. Whatever the Dems and the media are saying, the opposite is often the case.” And,

Washington needs to change. This is just a snapshot of what that should look like. A handful of holdouts refuse to budge on something in principle even if it means nothing else gets done, which is a win when it comes to Washington.”

If you watch machine-controlled media, this is a disaster (Tucker has a bunch of clips that give you the flavor of their narrative). It, therefore, must be the opposite.

Washington likes what Washington likes becasue it is good for the politicians and bureaucrats who work there. And I’m sure the Machine has the FBI building dossiers as we speak on those who dared to do in DC what they told the people back home they would do if they elected them.

I wonder how many said they’d not go for McCarthy as Speaker but have. That sounds like a better story to me. Until then, Tucker Carlson has some thoughts and that Lefty outrage montage I mentioned. There’s also a nice clip with Machine Stooge Jonah Goldberg, who was good before someone tattoed never-trump on his brain stem back in 2016. I’ll never buy another one of his books.

So it’s all fun and games until someone stands up on principle, so here’s Tucker.

Sununu Whitewashes COVID Record in Inaugural Address, Rebuildnh Exposes His Hypocrisy

Granite Grok - Fri, 2023-01-06 20:30 +0000

Yesterday, Gov. Sununu was sworn in for his fourth term. His inaugural speech (watch the video here) was laughable in its lack of self-awareness. Among other things, he claimed that NH “said no to mandates,” “puts individuals ahead of the system,” “kept the lights on” when other states shut down businesses, and more.

Please Submit Group communications or Press Releases to editor@granitegrok.com.
Submission is not a guarantee of publication.

He even claimed that they “threw politics out the window” and “followed the data” regarding COVID policy.

Gov. Sununu’s memory seems to be as short as Joe Biden’s these days. He hilariously even claimed: “It’s not right to tell a private business what they can or cannot do.” That’s apparently only true when it fits his authoritarian agenda – because he spent MONTHS telling private businesses what to do. Down to the minutia. We have the receipts. Check out our thread exposing Sununu’s hypocrisy:

In addition to the anti-science statewide mask mandate, Sununu prohibited hair dressers from blow drying their customers’ hair and even controlled how they can be paid, dictated how outdoor campers could be checked in, “discouraged” dancing at weddings, banned reusable bags at grocery stores, limited restaurants to only 6 people per table (even if they were in the same household!), mandated 10ft between cars at drive in theaters, demanded every store have an employee dedicated to “monitor compliance,” and more neo-fascist control over the “private businesses” whose “rights” he claims are so sacrosanct that they supersede the individual liberties of the People.

Governor, it’s time to make amends for your poor decisions bending to federal bureaucratic pressure and buckling to public panic. It’s time for humility and grace rather than lies and distortions to whitewash your past actions. The People of New Hampshire deserve to move forward knowing that these bad actions against a free people will never be perpetrated again, and the only way that happens is to humbly acknowledge your mistakes and ask for forgiveness from the People.

Massachusetts and Maine Embrace More Potemkin Energy

Granite Grok - Fri, 2023-01-06 19:00 +0000

Grigory Potemkin is famous for allegedly erecting fake towns that appeared accurate when viewed from a distance. As the new governor of Crimea, he wanted to please his empress (with whom he was intimately engaged). Fast forward about 140 years, and we find ourselves with something similar.

Massachusetts intends to finance up to 40% of a wind power project in far northern Maine, potentially giving the state the partner it needs to make the project a reality.

The partnership comes as states in the Northeast are struggling with surging energy costs. The region is heavily dependent on natural gas and feeling a crunch from tightening global energy supplies.

Tight why? Democrats.

Democrats are responsible for the high price of natural gas, its inaccessibility to this region, and the global rise in energy prices. We’ve got plenty of domestic supply, but it has been pinched until it got so expensive that wind and solar could begin to compete. It looks like damning the river and then charging people downstream double for water from your wells.

And we are going to do what Germany did. Erect costly wind machines (likely made in china) that work poorly in the cold and never deliver anywhere near the amount of electricity promised. It was Deutschland’s chosen path to independence from Russian gas. They even began to decommission their nuclear plants. But Germany discovered a few inconvenient truths when the Russkies turned off the tap. It’s never windy enough, and when it is, that’s still not enough. They need to burn coal to fill the widening gaps. And no one mentioned that in going “green” the brochure?

Meanwhile, in New England, where hard lessons remain unlearned,

“Massachusetts’ commitment to provide financial support for the proposed Northern Maine Transmission Line marks a critical step in the right direction,” he said, adding that the project “can unleash the economic potential of Aroostook County and provide affordable and reliable homegrown renewable energy to the good people of Maine.”

They got the “critical” bit right. As for the economic potential, that’s a Potemkin village too. These projects are backed with taxpayer money. More Potemkin Energy may please the green “empress” from a distance, but upon scrutiny, it is a virtue-signaling boondoggle. Planned failure whose price will be borne and felt by many when it can’t keep the lights on or the hearth warmed.

And let’s not forget about all the dead bats and birds.

Here’s an Idea for the IRS – Stop Giving Rich People Tax Credits to Buy EV’s

Granite Grok - Fri, 2023-01-06 16:00 +0000

Electric Vehicles are expensive and not green, but an even bigger insult is the taxpayer-backed incentives to get one. EV buyers are high-income earners, which makes them high-income emitters looking to buy a bit of virtue signaling.

Related: RI Transportation Initiative – Let’s Use Your Money to Help More Rich People Buy EVs

And I don’t care about that bit. Good on you and your good-paying job or high-income lifestyle. These are the people who take risks or invest and create jobs for everyone else. If they want to pretend we’re not offshoring emissions or charging EVs with fossil fuels, be you! And they will. The Inflation Reduction Act includes tax breaks to help them get more EV for the money.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is inviting consumers to share comments on the electric vehicle tax credit qualifications. Tesla and electric vehicle supporters have been vocal about the Inflation Reduction Act’s qualified cars for the EV incentive. Some variants of the Tesla Model Y and the Ford Mustang Mach-E will not receive any incentives from the IRS at all, yet some vehicles that use fossil fuels will. Those vehicles are classified as electric vehicles because they are plug-in hybrid EVs.

The inclusion or exclusion of a model is likely political, and the work of lobbyists encouraging politicians to bend the ears of bureaucrats. So, I’ll agree, in principle, that if you’re handing out tax credits, you must decide which electric vehicle qualifies. EV incentives during the Obama years increased the sales of golf carts and mobility scooters, though the latter was mostly milking Medicaid rules to convince people to get them (for free).

If there is a trough, there will be pigs.

The Dems and Biden are like the Dems and Obama. Only they have been laying out troughs the size of which we’ve never seen. And no, as then, in the case of EVs, almost no one below the upper and upper middle class can ever afford one, even with a 7500.00 tax credit. And maybe that’s not such a bad thing. The Biden economy has made electric vehicles more expensive, putting them further out of reach of all but a few. A destination that, given the promise of an EV-only future, will remain unreachable to most voters.

I know, that’s the point, but rural America isn’t rolling up their sidewakes and hiking into the cities by 2035 or even 2050. Nor are the electrical demands or technology likely to make the transportation future promised by Dems more achievable.

People are more likely to vote for something else or someone else.

At least, I’d like to think that’s what would happen.

To The Dover School Board – The Public Pity Party about Personal Choices (Pornography)

Granite Grok - Fri, 2023-01-06 14:30 +0000

The circus that ensued at the last SB meeting was ridiculous to watch the public pity party about personal choices that had little to do with people concerned about pornography in our schools and library.

We want to thank Julie for this Contribution – Please direct yours to Editor@GraniteGrok.com.
You can review our ‘Op-Ed Guidelines‘ on the FAQ Page.

Someone pointed out the last five minutes were of interest, and I decided to grin and bear it. So without further delay.

Mr. Harbron and your speech about the book “it’s perfectly normal” and other statements. You mentioned that book on the poster (none of you even looked at) was an older addition as if it made it better, somehow, for children K-5. I’ve attached content, pics at the end, of both, and they each violate our laws on adult content.

You also mentioned that this book is in some kind of restricted section of the elementary schools for parents!? Here’s where it gets weird. Since parents are not allowed in the school libraries, what, where, and how do we have a restricted section that we don’t know about to take an obscene book out to share/read to children? This in itself is outrageous. Why are our tax dollars, you complain you never get enough of, going toward buying books, we don’t know about in a section we cannot access? Who is reading these books, and to whom are they being read?

Besides that, if parents want to buy crap for their children, they can spend their money at Moonlight reader or Amazon, not my tax dollars!

He also mentioned the “list of porn books,” which at the time of the meeting was 75 in all libraries. And that only 45 of the books we’re in the schools as if to make it right!? I attached the latest list which is up to 77 in schools over 100 in all libraries.

Not sure what woman at the end decided to make a speech on individual thoughts and how they may not be what others feel or think. Yes, we all have a right to our opinions and, as of today, a right to voice concerns at SB meetings to our elected servants. You all are supposed to be “impartial” elected officials. Not biased as you continue to show your support for special interest groups, unions, and your friends rather than listen impartially to the collective.

Then she goes on to poke fun at the “science boards and project poster boards” and that there is a protocol for complaints. In other words, be quiet, you taxpayer!

If that wasn’t bad enough, the whole board snickered and laughed!!! How juvenile. Even if people who object to pornography in the schools filled out your complaint forms, you are the review committee! Besides, over 75 pornography books in schools, and still counting, is criminal and beyond a form, thus requiring immediate action.

So let’s review.  You are all defending pornography books in the schools rather than getting to the bottom of why on earth they are there at all. They violate federal, state, and local laws. They are NOT sex ed books. They have absolutely no literal or artistic value. They send a message to children that the horrors in these books are “normal.” Want examples? Look at the list, and read the books. Stop depending on third-party awards or publishing companies who are profiting off my taxes, thanks to this city’s obsession with buying porn for children’s libraries.

NH Dems Try To Ban Guns at the State House

Granite Grok - Fri, 2023-01-06 13:00 +0000

The New Hampshire House Republican majority is razor thin, so you might expect NH Dems to peel off a few wins on crucial votes. Wednesday, they had their first opportunity as the chamber voted on rules changes, but it wasn’t their best day.

At least a few Granite State Lefties wanted to ban the concealed carry of firearms in the Statehouse (of course, they did). They like banning guns, and David ‘GOP=Taliban‘ Meuse is a persistent left-wing gun-grabber, so he stepped up and made the case.

David Meuse (D-Portsmouth) requested that the ability of no one, except for on-duty law enforcement officials, should be able to carry or have a weapon in their possession in the House chamber, gallery and nearby rooms. …

Terry Roy (D-Deerfield) and J.R. Hoell (R-Dunbarton) said that judicial precedent indicating that constitutional rights to bear arms supersede House rules and in emergencies, law enforcement officials may be too far away to provide protection where it is needed.

It failed 197-177, so concealed carry continues to be protected as a matter of state and constitutional law and in House rules.

Cam Edwards, at Bearing Arms, wrote, “This is a good sign for the start of the New Hampshire session, and hopefully, it portends more defeats for the anti-gun lobby in the months ahead… not only in the Live Free or Die State but in statehouses from coast-to-coast as well.”

Another sore spot for progs is in-person attendance. They’ve still got a fever for the flavor of the lockdowns. The COVID Boogeyman is around every corner, and it’s coming to get you. Picture the McCarthy Era commies behind every bush but replace commies with COVID.

They wanted to blacklist the unvaccinated, if you recall.

So, the hard-core Left wants the option for remote voting or something similar. They brought a rules amendment for proxy voting (allowing someone else to show up and vote in their stead). If you’ve never been a NH House rep, studied the process, or even if you have, voting can prove troublesome, especially if there is a pile of motions for this or that. It makes a proxy a questionable alternative that is not required to vote the same way as the Rep for whom they are filling in, nor to vote at all. And while that might be fun to watch, the House killed it, 204-177.

The Dems also proposed remote committee hearings. In NH, the heavy lifting happens in committee. The yea or nay on the house floor is for or against the committee recommendation. Some Dems wanted the participation from home waiver (COVID!), but the same case was made as with the proxy. Your constituents elected you to show up. Show up. That result was closer, but it failed 195-180.

I’m not sure if, in the course of debate, anyone mentioned the equity or social justice in forcing Dems to drive to the state house given the gas prices their Party policies have foisted on everyone (expected to rise again this year), but that would have been fun to watch too. A bit crass, perhaps, but relevant if anyone wants my opinion.

We Have to Protect the Electoral College

Granite Grok - Fri, 2023-01-06 11:30 +0000

The Electoral College is a difficult concept to understand, and now that Civics is no longer taught in public schools, fewer people know what the Electoral College is or does. The name does nothing to tip you off to its importance, and maybe we should call it the Great Equalizer.

Suppose you live in one of the population meccas like New York City or the Progressive state of California. In that case, you probably agree with politicians who want to do away with the Electoral College and replace it with a popular vote. But that is not how our system of government was designed. It is how folks on the Left would like it to be. That is why the Left often makes the mistake of calling the United States a Democracy when, in fact, it is a Constitutional Republic. Let me try to explain the differences.

Our name gives you a clue as to what a Republic is. We are the United States of America. We are a collection of fifty individual states, each having its own government, and combined, all fifty participate in an election every four years to elect a President. Based on the two Senators combined with the number of Representatives a state has, it gives them the number of votes they cast in the Electoral College that decides our President. My small state of New Hampshire has two Representatives and, therefore, four Electoral College votes. California, on the other end of the spectrum, has fifty-five votes. More people equates to more votes. But the Electoral College makes my vote as important as someone voting in San Francisco. There are a total of 538 electoral votes. Majority needed to elect the President and vice president: 270.

If the country did away with the Electoral College and went with a popular vote count, the high-population areas like California and New York would dictate to the country who should sit in the White House. Since these areas are typically Liberal and vote as such, it would benefit Democrats to change the system. We on the Right can never let that happen.

Hillary Clinton was a strong proponent of eliminating the College, and the Squad has taken up the call. Elizabeth Warren is another that wants to destroy the Republic by going to a popular vote and converting America to a Democracy. They know that with the demographics of our urban areas, making the change would all but guarantee Democrat Presidents forever. No, thank you. An example on a smaller scale is New York State. In the 2022 Midterms, many House seats went to Republicans because much of the state is actually Conservative and Red. But, because the Governor is elected on a statewide popular vote, the voters in New York City dictate who the Governor will be and why upstate New York has to suffer with Governor Kathy Hochul.

The map of the United States at the top of this article shows how the West Coast and the Northeast are Blue, and the rest of the country is quite Red. Preserving the Electoral College will give the people in Red areas a fighting chance at determining who sits in the Oval Office. The Democrats are a shrewd bunch and are always looking for ways to tilt the table. The Electoral College is one, but lowering the voting age, allowing illegal aliens to vote, and non-resident college students voting in the state of their institution are some of the others. There are many more, but I wanted to focus on the Electoral College today. We must preserve it, but we must also do a much better job of spreading the word on why. That is the reason for today’s article. Thanks for stopping by, and God Bless and keep the United States of America.

Reopen NH: Legislative Session Kicks Off!

Granite Grok - Fri, 2023-01-06 02:30 +0000

The legislative season is off to the races and RebuildNH will be updating you more frequently to keep you informed about bills, hearings, sessions, and activism needed. We will email you with all the most important updates, but for up to the minute updates follow us on Twitter and Telegram.

Please Submit Group communications or Press Releases to editor@granitegrok.com.
Submission is not a guarantee of publication.

One important development from yesterday is that the slim Republican majority (plus a handful of sane Democrats) rebuffed the Democrat majority’s attempt to institute proxy voting for state reps. Read more about that on our Telegram channel.

New legislator training—your donations at work!

RebuildNH hosted a new legislator training for endorsed candidates on Monday evening. Our seasoned legislators instructed new reps on procedure and tactics to be most effective. It’s your financial support that has enabled us to mould capable legislators to further liberty in New Hampshire. Thank you!

If you want to financially support RebuildNH, you can donate here. Your additional support will give us the resources we need to more effectively advocate on your issues.

HELP NEEDED: Executive Council Task Force

We at RebuildNH need an extra set of hands and eyes to watch the Executive Council. Keeping up with the Legislature is a full time job that we already manage, but we have struggled to have the bandwidth to keep up with the Executive Council. We are looking for volunteers who could help read their agendas to keep us informed so we can fight tyranny in all corners of government.

If you are interested, please email director@rebuildnh.com.

I’ll Show You An Embarrassment …

Granite Grok - Fri, 2023-01-06 01:00 +0000

So a frequent poster here is embarrassed … EMBARRASSED … that ten percent of the GOP representatives want to enact real reforms in the U.S. House of Representatives … such as preventing the fast-tracking of another omnibus

… as opposed to mouthing platitudes and then going on with business as usual. So I thought I would show you what an actual embarrassment looks like … the “GOP Leader” in the U.S. Senate … the inflation-enabler, globalist-grifter, warmonger, Mr. Mitch McConnell:

Here is another actual embarrassment, His Wokeness … the man who has turned New Hampshire solidly BLUE, Sun-King Sununu:

And here is another … Mr. Obamacare himself, the “GOP Leader” of the State Senate, RINO-extraordinaire, Mr. Jeb Bradley:

When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. Fortunately for the Saudis and the rest of the region, the shipment was intercepted before it could make it to the hands of the Houthis. Sadly, however, the shipment was stopped by none other than al-Qaeda. The whereabouts of the weapons-grade uranium remain unknown at this time.

So, a threat that was once isolated to Saudi Arabia and the Greater Middle East has now metamorphosed into a direct threat to the American homeland.

With that weapons-grade, Iranian-made uranium, al Qaeda could fashion a dirty bomb. They could send the weapon from abroad into the waiting hands of their sleeper agents hidden throughout the United States via America’s wide-open southern border. Al-Qaeda could then achieve their dream of killing masses of Americans in one fell swoop, possibly wiping out a major American city while they are at it, all while the Biden Administration sleepily ignores the threat in favor of directing an ever-increasing amount of limited state resources into hunting Russian ghosts at Mar-a-Lago and prosecuting “right-wing terrorists.”

America is vulnerable. An al-Qaeda dirty bomb attack may be coming sooner than we realize.

What’s coming across our southern border?  Never mind the implications globally.

Nevertheless, narratives that seek to portray indigenous populations as innocent — or “enlightened” in comparison to villainous Western settlers  — have little basis in history. As Gilley’s book demonstrates, native peoples were capable of great cruelties toward each other, and European intervention often curbed such evils as human sacrifice, misogyny, and slavery.

But will any revelation truly make a dent in the asleeple sheeple’s minds?

=+=+=

Concluding thoughts if I’m moved to comment:

There’s a joke my late father told me.  It singles out Catholics because of the punchline, but really it could be about anyone ignoring / wiping out misdeeds by their in-group, whether racial, religious, national, etc.  Certainly to some extent I’m guilty of that with respect to my fellow Jews, though – example here – I do try to police my own.  For whatever it’s worth.  So…

Two Catholic workmen were doing some repair work on a building, and from their work position they can see into the fenced-in parking lot of the local cat house.  In drove a car, and a local Evangelical pastor snuck in.  One man said to the other, “Such a shame to see a man of the cloth, even a non-Catholic, fallen like that”.  Day after day, people they’d know, or an actual religious person, would park and sneak in to similar comments between the two.

Finally, their local Catholic priest went in.  “Someone must be needing last rights if Father O’Sullivan is going in”.

Unwilling to see what is right in front of their faces, and rationalizing that truth away.

I see this in so many instances.  So many asleeple sheeple simply unable to think that people could be fallen and do bad things.  That doctors and other officials could lie to them about the Jab.  That their government could fail them, whether on the Jab or the economy or food shortages or whatever.

I fear that many people are in for a rude awakening.  And many will not survive, in part because they cannot make the mental switch to a changed world.  Resilience and adaptability will be the watchwords.

Given that my nickname for my ex is “Satan’s favorite daughter”, I LOLed.  I remember one time reading about a tornado touching down in the town where we used to live, and she still does… and being sinfully hopeful about a specific house having been scooped up.

No, I’m not bitter.  Why do you ask?

NYC Mayor Says Enough With The Huddled Masses Yearning To Be Free

Granite Grok - Thu, 2023-01-05 22:00 +0000

Illegal Aliens have swarmed across the border into America, some with nothing but their iPhones and Nikes. Millions of them. Is that what the Democrats meant by a rising tide?

Breaching the sea wall of the southern border. Burying coastal cities with a change in their “climate.”

No. But border states and common destinations for illegal aliens have been asking for help. Democrats deny there’s a problem. In response, the deluged have been tossing buckets of them at places like New York City, Chicago, and Washington, DC. Busses or planes full of “migrants” arrive to be welcomed in these sanctuary cities, and the Dems put on a brave face at first.

Sanctuary.

Would you believe it was a Democrat governor that was the final straw?

Jared Polis, Colorado’s Dem governor, called the NYC mayor on Monday night to inform him large numbers of migrants would be transported to the city.

Adams publicly criticized the plan on Tuesday morning and insisted New York has taken its fair share of migrants, adding: ‘There’s no more room at the inn.’

So, no more huddles masses, Mayor Adams?

Adams said during a radio appearance on Tuesday morning: ‘We were notified yesterday that the governor of Colorado is now stating that they are going to be sending migrants to places like New York and Chicago.

‘This is just unfair for local governments to have to take on this national obligation…

‘This has really impacted on the quality of life in New York, and our ability to provide everyday long-term New Yorkers on the needs that they have during this difficult time. So this must be addressed.’

Mayor Adams, who has seen only the tiniest drop from the tidal wave of border-crossers but says there’s no more room at the inn, has to know that it is millions of times worse down there.

Polis, to his credit, is asking for change.

Polis said: ‘No one should play politics with the lives of migrants who came here to escape oppression, and in Colorado, we are honoring our values of treating people with dignity and respect.

But.

‘States and cities cannot continue to bear this burden alone and Congress needs to finally step up – we need an immediate route to work permits, and to finally enact better border security and immigration reform.’

He’s one voice on the Left. Will it encourage more?

It’s Not Getting Warmer …

Granite Grok - Thu, 2023-01-05 20:30 +0000

NOAA predicted a drier, warmer winter in the Northeast this season. Depending on where you are, it might be warmer but not drier. From Buffalo to the Eastern Seaboard, precipitation, whether rain or snow, has been above average.

Related: CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL… It is Just Not Created by Humans.

Kudos to the partisan geeks at NOAA for being half-right so far unless New England gets to being New England. If you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes.  There’s also a chance NOAA could be wrong on temperature and right on precipitation. Maybe either way on both. Winter just started. But the warmer trends inspire the climate cultists to peep their pointy heads out of their tiny holes and squeak “global warming.”

I know it’s climate change; because it is not always warming, and acting locally means ignoring everything beyond your own horizon to push the socialist prescriptions for what ails us; freedom.

But since the end of the solar maximum, if you’d like to insist it is about the temperature, temps in the lower atmosphere have not just stabilized; they’ve begun to trend downward.

US surface temperature averages also show a noticeable downward trend.

Related: Climate: If The Science Is Settled, Why Do They Keep Changing It?

NOAA and NASA think the current solar minimum could last up to 35 years or more. It is a situation that will begin to have a more noticeable impact on not just graphs and charts but ordinary joe and jane’s day-to-day. It is why I have postulated that the progs are pushing so much money into an energy transition. If they can get it on the books it will be harder to roll back when spring starts later, and fall ends sooner.

And for the record, that transition has nothing to do with climate. It’s a deliberate shift in fiscal resources away from donors who might give money to opponents to those who would give to them. And yes, you can argue that maybe Republicans support fossil fuels for a similar reason, except for this.

Cheap, abundant energy is good for business, growth, innovation, mobility, and technology (including lower emissions tech), and it ensures people can afford to stay warm without having to announce their featly to their government. It creates independence.

The so-called green alternatives are not green and can’t even replace what we have now. The green future is brown and black. From offshoring emissions and tax dollars to human rights violating second and third-world dictators to a nation that can’t charge its cars and keep the lights on or the hearth warm, there utopia is not bright.

It’s dark. And that is where they want to keep you, in the dark.

The FBI Is Starting to Look a Bit Like the KGB

Granite Grok - Thu, 2023-01-05 19:00 +0000

For my uninformed readers, communist Russia had this organization called the KGB. Its responsibility was to support the communist party. KGB is short for Komitet Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnosti – which translates to Committee for State Security.

Hmm…Committee for State Security? Isn’t that what the FBI does – advance the security of the state, which every communist understands to be the security of the party?

Recently it seems that the FBI is willing to go to any length to protect the party – the Democrat National Committee.

The FBI has destroyed evidence of crimes committed by party officials. During the Clinton email investigation, the feds destroyed computers and cell phones at the request of the party official running for President, who also happened to be the target of the investigation – Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The FBI fabricated evidence against officials working for the RNC. That would be people promoting a candidate to prevent the American communists from getting 4 more years of power. An FBI lawyer, Kevin Clinesmith, actually changed an email to mean the exact opposite of its intended message – to obtain a FISA warrant to surveil the Trump campaign.

After the 2016 election, the FBI participated in a coup attempt against a duly elected president – because he was not of the preferred party. They triggered the appointment of a special counsel to investigate a crime that they knew never happened. They used the investigation, not the existence of any actual evidence, to taint the administration and support attempts to remove the President from office.

In the lead-up to the 2020 election, the FBI hid evidence of crimes by the party’s candidate for President, Joseph Robinette Biden. When the existence of a laptop containing evidence of Joe Biden’s corruption became known, the FBI kept its possession of the laptop secret and worked with social media companies to kill any public disclosure of the evidence. An FBI disinformation operation claimed that the laptop was a Russian disinformation operation. Now we know that the information on the laptop is genuine. its information is almost as disturbing as the lengths to which the FBI went to hide it.

The FBI has also instigated crimes where they would be of political benefit. The bureau used paid human sources to organize a kidnapping attempt against Gretchen Whitmer – another high-level party official. FBI assets recruited the conspirators, did all of the planning, and provided all of the resources. They then arrested the people they had recruited and called them Trump supporters – at the time Donald Trump was running for reelection.

Since the DNC victory of 2020, the FBI has continued its work to consolidate party power.

hey’ve initiated a nationwide search for political dissidents – those who supported the election of Donald Trump. They’ve tracked down thousands of people and interviewed them – not for committing any crime, but for attending an opposition political rally. Such affronts to the party must be discouraged.

The FBI has implemented the infrastructure to track anyone opposing party initiatives. Bureau databases now categorize and track anyone who has the temerity to challenge what the party is teaching their children. Nobody shall be allowed to interfere with the party’s indoctrination of new party members. Parents are now subject to suspicion, intimidation, and harassment.

Signs of patriotism also run counter to the party narrative. Such displays have been designated potential signs of domestic terrorism – as they are seen to challenge government hegemony. Law enforcement agencies have been advised to watch for Betsy Ross and Gadsden flags. They’ve also been warned that people questioning the 2020 election, government COVID protocols, or federal overreach are potential threats.

The FBI has implemented the infrastructure to collaborate with social media companies to control public information, and access private information. They have assigned up to 80 agents to interface with Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Google, and others.

All of that should prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that law enforcement is no longer the FBI’s primary focus. We know that the bureau received a tip that the activities of the Tsarnaev brothers was troubling – before they bombed the Boston Marathon. Do you suppose the FBI had 80 agents looking into the activities of the Tsarnaev brothers? Did they assign any undercover assets to infiltrate the plot?

The fact that they would detail a large number of agents to censor speech, but not to investigate a terrorism tip says something about the bureau’s priorities – no? It seems the FBI will only do criminal justice if it doesn’t get in the way of other projects.

Thanks to the Elon Musk takeover of Twitter, we’re getting a glimpse of what the FBI has been up to. We know that the bureau was using Twitter to access private information. Does anyone doubt that it was using other social media companies to do the same?

Thanks to modern technology those companies know where we are, and what we’re doing – 24/7. Have you eaten at a restaurant and then received a text asking you to rate the experience? Our phones track our movements and report to the tech giants. How do you think the feds knew that Mike Lindell was at a fast-food drive through when they decided to seize his cell phone – for questioning the integrity of the 2020 election? Social media companies are tracking every move we make. Can you see that such information could be dangerous in the hands of a power-hungry bureaucrat seeking to advance the interests of the party?

Are you comfortable with the FBI knowing when you

  • Visit a target range?
  • Travel between states?
  • Send an email about politics to a friend?
  • Donate to a social cause not aligned with party interests?
  • Attend a social function in which a MAGA donor may be present?

The feds want all of that information, and we’ve learned that they are inclined to use it for the worst of purposes – not for the equal application of the law.

The FBI is starting to look a bit like the old Soviet KGB – more focused on advancing party interests than criminal justice. Luckily, they haven’t “disappeared” any of the party opposition yet. Oh, wait. I forgot about the US citizens placed in solitary confinement, without bail, for the indiscretion of trespassing on property that their taxes paid for – on January 6, 2021.

I have a few questions for the FBI leadership. How many Soviets believed the KGB was a legitimate law enforcement agency? How many Americans believe the FBI is a legitimate law enforcement agency? (Hint: a recent Rasmussen poll found that 53 percent of Americans consider the FBI to be Joe Biden’s personal Gestapo.) Is trust in the FBI growing or shrinking? Can the FBI continue to function without the trust of the people it is charged to serve? By the way, where is the KGB now?
