Islamophobia Has No Place in America, But Republicanphobia – Plenty of Room for That!

Granite Grok - Tue, 2023-10-24 15:00 +0000

Lizard Warren lied for decades, selling herself as a diversity hire and then bragging about it. A forced apology many years too late, and all is forgiven, at least by the people that matter to Liz Warren, but she’s still skeeving two-faced fraud.

I bring receipts.

This from a woman who hates the US Constitution and has kept silent as civil rights have been violated with her consent. What a partisan harpy. Too coarse? Not civil enough? Too contentious? Okay, let’s try a little thought experiment.

The United States Constitution is clear: Republican civil rights are American civil rights. There is no exception.

Hate has no place in America. Republicanphobia has no place in America. We will not be silent.

We could use freedomphobia or coservativphobia. In New Hampshire, there’s FreeStaterPhobia. How about something the Left truly fears?

The United States Constitution is clear: Trump Supporter civil rights are American civil rights. There is no exception.

Hate has no place in America. Trump Derangement Syndrome has no place in America. We will not be silent.

Need we continue?

The United States Constitution is clear: Capitol Protester civil rights are American civil rights. There is no exception.

Hate has no place in America. J6-phobia has no place in America. We will not be silent.

We could do this all day, but I think you get the point. Liz doesn’t believe in any of that. But she does believe in the totalitarianism inherent in Islam because Islamism and Progressivism share an ideological proclivity for intolerant top-down control. These are command and control ideologies, complete with blasphemies and mob justice, and while there are adherents of both who are not all in, as with Islam, depending on where you are or who can hear, you aren’t going to admit that.

That this is true is not Islamaphobia, which infers a fear of the faith. I do not fear their faith, but you’d be crazy not to question their own words or the people who interpret them as a mandate to conquer the world by any means – including deceit and murder – to either convert them or kill non-believers.

And what Liz thinks she believes and Islam are not compatible. If it came to a nationwide cage match between the two, the Democrats would find themselves over a barrel, tossed off of rooftops, drowning in cages, and lit on fire along with the Constitution. Or they could declare for Team Muhhamad and give up those civil rights.

You can’t just claim to be indigenous to Mecca.

Masters of Deceit have Turned from Red to Green

Granite Grok - Tue, 2023-10-24 13:30 +0000

Yesteryear’s gold fever has a lot in common with today’s environmental fever: each promises a better future. Finding gold, however, gives you the freedom to live the way you want. Moving towards an environmental way of life restricts freedom.

We want to thank Russ Payne for this Contribution – Please direct yours to Editor@GraniteGrok.com.
You can review our ‘Op-Ed Guidelines‘ on the FAQ Page.

Americans have something more precious than gold and don’t know it: Liberty! Agenda 21/30, initiated at the United Nations Conference on Environment & Development Rio de Janeiro in June 1992, continues to prove the result of ignorance. Lenin’s strategy was perfectly implemented: “ identifying those non-communists he predicted would build communism as ‘useful idiots’.” What you don’t know can hurt you!

This weaponized plan of environmental fever became a tool to implement a worldwide “takeaway” of private property—the first step of tyranny implemented by the Communist Manifesto. Therefore, there is no reason for Americans to trust what the United Nations is up to next September in their two-day “Summit of the Future” to be held in New York City. They don’t want to talk about freedom. Instead, they want to discuss how to fill gaps in global governance, reaffirming existing commitments that involve Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the UN Charter.

Enslaving nations and calling it liberation is the timeless Marxist “principle of reversal.” Only this time, their goal lusts after global control. As J. Edgar Hoover labeled, they are “Masters of Deceit.” The pandemic was just a trial run of total control. The climate crisis will be the tool to get them over the finish line. Our God-given inherent rights will once again be sacrificed with forced protection by Executive Order. Beware of the Green New Deal (GND)! We must stop this unconstitutional war on the American people led by globalist forces of the UN’s WHO, the WEF, and all the bureaucracies of control from our government, the DHHS, CDC, EPA, et al., that want to be our masters. We, the people, must stand up and make sure our local, county, and state officials do not walk in lockstep with the GND.

Why trust federal government collusion with this global cabal intent on controlling and stealing everything you have? Liberty demands we distrust men in seats of power at the national level. We, the people, must have the courage to use our Constitution as a weapon to oppose tyranny. If we do not, we will be guilty of betraying our state motto: “Live Free Or Die.”

On, “Graphic Depictions of Sexual Acts That Are Made Available to Minor Children…”

Granite Grok - Tue, 2023-10-24 12:00 +0000

There is an excellent clip making the rounds of a woman who testified before Congress on K-12 public schooling. What she said caught the attention of Moms 4 Liberty, who shared it on Instagram, but there is no indication of her name or who she was. I wanted to hear the rest.

Her name is Megan Degenfelder. She is the elected state Superintendent for public instruction for the State of Wyoming.

From Wyoming Chronicle, “She might well be the youngest person ever elected to one of Wyoming’s “big five” elected offices, but State Superintendent Megan Degenfelder says the job is not about the calendar, but the agenda and the drive to accomplish it.

Then, I found a story at Cowboy State Daily covering her testimony before Congress. They had the entire hearing and testimony, which I’ve shared below.

An excerpt.

“We have many incredible teachers and librarians” generally, Degenfelder added. “But there are books available, paid for by taxpayer dollars, with graphic depictions of sexual acts that are made available to minor children under the age of sexual consent … a complete misuse of taxpayer dollars.”:

Jump to 48:57 for her five minutes of testimony.

Why Can’t Kids Read?

Granite Grok - Tue, 2023-10-24 10:30 +0000

Earlier this month, Seven Days ran a remarkable story titled Too Many Vermont Kids Struggle to Read. What Went Wrong — and Can Educators Reverse a Yearslong Slide in Literacy? It’s long. 5000 words, but very much worth the time.

The piece details how, for over two decades, our public schools have been using unscientific, non-evidence-based teaching methods born of ultra-left-wing, touchy-feely ideology, resulting in a generation of insufficiently literate Vermonters.

The consequences of teaching kids the wrong way to read – which is the consequence of our Left-leaning colleges teaching teachers the wrong way to teach – is dramatic and tragic. According to the story, “Today, only about half of Vermont third graders read proficiently. Results are far worse for children of color and those with disabilities or living in poverty. Once ranked second nationally for reading achievement among fourth graders, Vermont has dropped to the middle of the pack,” now tied with Mississippi.  As the Seven Days article points out, “Low literacy is linked to a host of negative effects, including poor health, poverty and incarceration. And there are less obvious costs. Being unable to read proficiently causes deep hurt and shame.”

One parent, Julie Brown, fed up with how the public schools were failing her own child, got a master’s degree in language and literacy, and ultimately started a program teaching reading the proper way in Woodstock. Again, according to Seven Days, “The results have been striking. Of the roughly three dozen students who completed the program and were reevaluated, about two-thirds were able to leave special education entirely, and only a handful still showed signs of a reading disability.” Think about that for a minute. How many kids have been diagnosed and stigmatized as “special education” in Vermont – and at what taxpayer expense – not because they had a learning disability, but because the school was actively undermining their ability to learn to read proficiently!

The culprit behind the decline is a curriculum called “balanced literacy” pioneered by Lucy Calkins and her organization, the Reading and Writing Project, which was, until last month, affiliated with ultra-left wing Columbia University’s Teachers’ College. The glaring failure of the program, which was never based on evidence or science, became too much even for Columbia to ignore – it just took forty years. Still, Leftist educators bought into it hook, line, and sinker and stuck with it in our schools for a quarter of a century, much to many a child’s detriment.

So why did we abandon a scientific, evidenced-based method of teaching kids to read that worked and had for decades – “phonics” – for one that isn’t and doesn’t? Or, as Louisa Moats, a nationally known reading expert, described it to Seven Days, how was it that “Vermont and other states fell victim to the ‘philosophical entrenchment of wrongheaded thinking’ [my new favorite phrase to describe our State House] in classrooms and colleges and universities?”

Moats, who, according to the article, describes herself as a liberal Democrat, answered her own question: “She believes the politicization of literacy — with phonics often being thought of as a Republican cause — is one reason that scientific knowledge about reading hasn’t been put into practice widely.”

Huh…. Really….

So, the scientific, evidence-based, “Republican” policy worked but was rejected by Leftist educators (who always, you know, “follow the science”) because it was a Republican idea in favor of a steaming pile of psycho-babble and unicorn farts spawned by so-called experts from so-called elite universities leading to disastrous, tragic results for individuals and society at large. Got it!

I’m grateful to Seven Days for shining a spotlight on this issue, but I think it’s actually just one example in a broad pattern of public policy failures driven by the ‘philosophical entrenchment of wrongheaded thinking’ on behalf of Leftist policy makers wherever they are in government.

Like, for example, the inanely unscientific and non-evidence-based notion that defunding the police, refusing to prosecute crimes such as shoplifting and open-air drug dealing, eliminating cash bail, etcetera would make our communities safer. (Click Here for “WRONG!” Buzzer Sound Effect.) This, as opposed to the evidence-based Republican “broken windows” strategy implemented by Major Giuliani and Commissioner Bratton that worked to dramatically reduce crime and increase safety in New York in the 1990s and 2000s.

Like, for example, the non-evidence-based fantasy that adopting a national open border combined with sanctuary city policies would lead to greater equity, social justice, and economic opportunity for everyone as opposed to a humanitarian crisis overwhelming our social services, contributing to rising crime, homelessness, drug trafficking, and threatening “destroy” our cities, to use NYC Mayor Eric Adams word for what’s actually resulting.

Like, for example, the idea that if we separate people by race, gender, sexual orientation, etc., and encourage everyone to seek identity and meaning only within their tribe by competing for intersectional victim status, it will bring the nation together instead of, as the evidence would indicate, rip us apart.

Like, for example, a foreign policy of appeasing and legitimizing terrorist organizations and the nations that harbor them in the Middle East would lead to peace in the region…. Covid lockdowns…. Renewable energy policies that they religiously believe will save the planet but only result in dead whales, ruined ridgelines, blighted pasture lands, and, when all is said and done, flooded villages and higher costs for people trying to stay warm in winter.

All of these negative policy outcomes are the result of the “philosophical entrenchment of wrongheaded thinking.” Rejections of evidence, obvious realities, and common sense in favor of a weird faith in an unsubstantiated radical ideology.

Happily, it looks like there is now some movement in our schools to return to the evidence-based phonics program, despite its boogeyman Republican association, so kids will be able to learn to read again. Let’s hope this sparks a broader trend of getting back to effective, evidence-based policies on crime, energy, economic growth, healthcare, taxes, environmental conservation…

Our Open Border Gives Us Terrorists And Fentanyl, Not A Problem For Dems

Granite Grok - Tue, 2023-10-24 01:30 +0000

One hundred thousand deaths a year of our young adults and countless more addicted do not get the attention of Democrats. Three years of daily reports of large amounts of Fentanyl tablets confiscated at our former Southern Border and no reaction from the Party of the People – isn’t that what they tell us?

That may have been the label for our parents’ Democrat Party, but that’s not today’s cast. Today’s Democrats are big money, big business, and to hell with the little guy. Inner cities are in decay and unsafe for human habitation. Schools are no longer teaching students but reprogramming them for the new America, the Socialist America. We must not forget the unborn as Democrats don’t. They believe in abortion up to the time of birth and beyond. Then, of course, we have the 7 million illegals who have entered our country and are scattered throughout the lower 48. These people pose countless problems for the lower and middle class.

In addition to policy impact on the middle class, we have the terrorist influx. Border Patrol has apprehended dozens of individuals who appear on the Terrorist Watchlist, but what of those who escaped and are now roaming free somewhere in our country? The group perpetrating destruction, fear, and death in America on 9/11 was small. There are countless more who are currently operating in America. They may be forming gangs that will terrorize and disrupt our major cities. They may be coming together to form cells waiting for direction from their hierarchy overseas. They may be helping to spread the distribution of Fentanyl far from the Border. They may be responsible for many of the 85,000 juvenile illegals our government has lost track of. There are so many opportunities for these people to wreak havoc on every class of Americans, but it is the middle and lower class these terrorists will target for recruits.

These are the things that Americans are experiencing with Joe Biden in office. You can turn on the TV at any time of the day and hear Republicans speaking out about the lousy Biden policies that are making us less safe and prosperous than we were three years ago. With what is happening in the Middle East, we know there will be refugees from GAZA and Lebanon looking for a new home and aid. They will look to America, and the Democrats are already laying out the welcome mat. That may be premature as many of us want a moratorium on any refugees from the Middle East.

These people have been indoctrinated since birth, and their beliefs include death to Israel and America. These people would not come here to assimilate into American life. Their mission will be to come here and help to tear down America with the full support of Democrats. Democrats are not in love with America. They want to tear it down, and the open Border and refugee stream from Ukraine, Lebanon, or even Iran will help the Democrats accelerate their path to our destruction. We have a year to convince people of how dangerous Democrats are, and that is at the same time, Democrat leaders are flooding the mainstream media about the existential threat of MAGA Republicans.

Will Smith Is America’s Masculinity Problem In A Nutshell

Granite Grok - Tue, 2023-10-24 00:00 +0000

It’s almost unbelievable how far Will Smith has fallen in the public eye. In the early 2000s, he was among the top leading men in Hollywood. He personified the adage: “Women wanted him, and men wanted to be him.” But it was all a lie. Twenty years later, his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, openly mocks him, and his kids are clearly damaged from growing up in the celebrity machine.

The world watched confusedly as Jada threw her husband to wolves when he slapped comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars in a poor attempt to defend her from Rock’s jokes. It was shocking to see the slap, but nothing compared to witnessing a wife be so publicly disloyal to her husband. A typical reaction to seeing your husband go to battle for you would be to love him and find his support worthy of reciprocation.

Jada should have come to his defense, showing him the loyalty he showed her, but she didn’t. She stayed silent for three months. She didn’t make her first public comment about the incident until June 2022, when she used the slap to promote information regarding Alopecia on her show, “Red Table Talk.”

Jada recently revealed that the two had been separated for six years when Will slapped comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars. Although it wasn’t immediately clear why a crass joke set Smith off, it’s hard not to see his overreaction as unbridled desperation from a man wanting to reclaim his masculinity in front of the world. How he was treated in old videos and interviews with Jada illuminated the possible cause. (ROOKE: Trad-ish With Mary Rooke Ep. 2: Parental Rights, Loving Husbands And BLM)

His wife publicly ran around on him, forcing him to tell people they were in an open marriage after she was caught parading her son’s friend, August Alsina, around as her lover. When Alsina told “The Breakfast Club” that Smith gave the couple his “blessing,” Jada was quick to correct him, explaining that Will didn’t have the authority to grant her “permission” to have an affair because she and Will weren’t together at the time.

After the revelations regarding her relationship with Alsina, Jada again insisted she didn’t cheat on her husband, even though they never filed for divorce, because they were separated. “I just need people to know, okay, I did not cheat on Will Smith. No matter how sad he looked at that table,” she said in an interview with her mother. She even had her husband sit down for her show to talk about the affair she famously called an “entanglement.” Smith was quick to correct her that it was a “relationship.”

This would break most men. It’s understandable why Smith felt he needed to prove he was still a man worthy of the arena. Rock’s joke was the straw that broke the camel’s back. We are seeing in real time what happens to a family when a woman marries a man she knows she can control and has little respect for. This is not how a wife behaves when she trusts her husband’s leadership or cares about his reputation. It’s likely because he has never required better from her.

Smith is a man who understands masculinity enough to play heroic men on film and television convincingly, but the lessons don’t seem to be making it in his marriage. Why is he allowing his wife to continue to disrespect him publicly? She lets the world know that his slap couldn’t have been to defend her honor because the two had been separated for years before the incident. This is another opportunity to support her husband and heal their marriage, ruined by her narcissism and his weakness. (ROOKE: The ‘Sexual Revolution’ Set Women Back For Generations)

Instead of guiding her out of her selfishness, her husband indulges it. Smith released a flaccid statement to the New York Times, blaming his “emotional blindness” for her shortcomings, which he sees as “hidden nuances and subtle beauties.” He had an opportunity to be silent and gain a little control back into their relationship, but instead, he gave her another reason to lose respect for him.

If your wife is running around on you and forcing you to take part in Marxist-style struggle sessions, it’s probably time to learn where your backbone is. Jada is miserable in her marriage. She seems selfish and loves being the main character in her own drama. Women like this need men who can show them there is more to life than focusing on yourself.

Smith represents the fall of Western masculinity. Our men were once capable of commanding respect. Their humble strength protected their family and grew our nation. As the number of men worthy of the arena dwindles, we will continue to experience the infertile ground that forms under selfish women.

Israel: Even More Memes, Links, and Commentary

Granite Grok - Mon, 2023-10-23 22:30 +0000

This is an attempt to “break out” memes, links, and my commentary about the situation in Israel and the Middle East so as to not overload the standard meme posts I do.  My last “normal” meme post. And my last Israel-related one, in which  I don’t just have memes such, but lots of informative links as well as hopefully-insightful commentary.

Please note that in each of these posts I try to not re-post information, memes, or graphics (and in general, if I do, I attempt to note the repeat).  So if this is a topic of interest to you, I strongly urge you to go through my older posts on this for more that you won’t see below in this specific post.  Reverse chronological order.

WHEN WILL IT END?

Iranian Majles Celebrates Invasion of Israel | MEMRI

Israel destroyed.  Every Jew dead.  That’s the goal.  Stated early, often, with no ambiguity.  This is a death-struggle with Iran as the central issue.  Now, I’m not advocating open war against Iran too, whether by Israel or the US.  But understand where so much of the money – at least – is coming from.  Background:

Hamas And Hezbollah Are The Symptoms, Iran Is The Disease (thefederalist.com)

Even then, understand that it’s the Mullahs.  In contrast, remember the Iranian students who went out of their way to not step on American or Israeli flags?

Iranian students avoid stepping on images of U.S., Israeli flags

What a pity the Green Revolution in Iran never took off.  I wonder why that didn’t happen.  I remember visiting Iran pre-revolution (OK, I was “knee high to a grasshopper then”) and hope – someday – to be able to go back.

How to save Gazan lives | Power Line (powerlineblog.com)

It would require only two words by Hamas leaders to end this war. Those words are: “We surrender.”

Hamas leaders could emerge from the elaborate and expensive tunnels in which they are hiding. They could release their nearly 200 Israeli, American, and other hostages.

Emperor Hirohito surrendered to spare the Japanese further suffering and end a world war. To do the same would be beneath the dignity of Mohammed Deif, Hamas’s military commander?

Not if the lives of their people were of concern to them.

As an aside: a video about the necessity of using the atomic bomb (link only).  The True Story of the Atomic Bombs (about 16 minutes).  Which is a good segue to an incredible insight into the Arab shame culture:

Read the whole thing.  Bookmark it and read it again in a few days.  It’s that insightful IMHO.  Now, going back to the Power Line link (bolding added; a comment added in []):

Hamas has been ordering Gazans to stay put and get killed so their corpses can be used for public relations purposes.

Gazans would be even safer if they’d cross into Egypt to wait out the war. But Egypt has prohibited large numbers from entering. Hamas also has taken steps to prevent an exodus.  [Deep down, IMHO, I suspect Egypt is happy to sacrifice fellow Muslims in their jihad against Israel.  The same for Jordan.]

Israelis have long supplied Gazans with electricity. No international law obligates them to do so in wartime. At President Biden’s urging, however, they have agreed to provide power to the south – for now.

But with all the foreign aid that has poured into Gaza since Israel’s complete withdrawal from the territory in 2005, why are Gazans still relying on Israel for electricity?

The answer: Because Hamas’s raison d’etre is killing Jews. The wellbeing of Gazans is for other to worry about. Hamas turns metal pipes imported to distribute water into missiles.

Good and evil do exist in this world, they always have. And in all of history, when evil forces attack good men, good men are forced into doing bad things to bad people to preserve the good. Our generation is not different from those who came before us, we’re just more confused. The time for confusion is over and the time to stamp out an evil beast has arrived.

An incredibly important point.  Speaking of bad people:

THE ISLAMIC MENTALITY

Hamas: Genocidal Hatred and Jihad against All ‘Unbelievers’ :: Gatestone Institute

This extends not just to the Jews in Israel, or Jews in general, but anyone not a Muslim.  Until you grasp that simple fact about Islam, that per its doctrines your options are convert, submit and pay the jizya protection money, or be killed, you’re not even worth debating.  Related to that is this excellent article, but note the one critical excerpt (bolding added):

Civilization’s fifth columnists – Melanie Phillips (jewishworldreview.com)

Elsewhere, a neurologist employed by Britain’s National Health Service, Dr. Mennah Elwan, claimed “there are no civilians in Israel,” suggesting that every Israeli was a legitimate target for murder.

But as I said in a prior post, it’s not just Jews.  Islam will never relinquish armed war against unbelievers until all submit (bolding added):

Stealth Jihad in American Education – American Thinker

Islamic law — Shari’ah — requires Jihad to be waged as “warfare against non-Muslims” until all the world is under Islamic law.  Jihadist doctrine is advanced by both violent techniques and “civilization jihad,” a stealth subversive effort to destroy Western civilization from within a nation by its own hand.  The pattern of Islam is to use the courts, schools, art museums, and other major institutions including outreach to churches to infiltrate, gradually introduce Shari’ah, and then finally take over a nation.  American education is a prime target.

ALL unbelievers:

WATCH: Israel is only the first target, warns Hamas commander – The Jerusalem Post (jpost.com)

“We believe in what our Prophet Muhammad said: “Allah drew the ends of the world near one another for my sake, and I have seen its eastern and western ends. The dominion of my nation would reach those ends that have been drawn near me,” Zahar said in the video that was published on MEMRI TV in December of 2022,

“The entire 510 million square kilometers of Planet Earth will come under [a system] where there is no injustice, no oppression, no Zionism, no treacherous Christianity and no killings and crimes like those being committed against the Palestinians, and against the Arabs in all the Arab countries, in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and other countries,” he said.

This doesn’t end in Israel.  Or the Middle East.  They have global ambitions.  Have the moral courage to take them at their word!

Hamas, Hezbollah jihadists’ plot to take over the world – opinion – The Jerusalem Post (jpost.com)

So what’s the solution?  I have a [not very modest, nor easy] proposal:

Gather experts like Jihad Watch founder Robert Spencer, Political Islam founder Bill Warner, and doubtless many others… and develop a way to meme / Thought Splinter ideas into the Islamic world that will undermine the anti-Jew / anti-Kaffir message / pro-conquest message.  Difficult, I know.  But until and unless we actively fight the ideology of Islamic jihad, not just militarily, we can never truly make headway.

‘Rather than take the soldiers prisoner, as would be required by international law, the terrorist moves a chair aside to fire at point blank range and execute them,’ South First Responders wrote on Telegram.

Is it true that there are Jews, many Jews, who are absolutely kind and loving?  Yes.  (There are also some incredibly stupid ones – such as the insane “welcome the stranger” mentality that is driving so many pro-migration Jews to not just weaken America and Europe, but paints us all in a bad light.  Just like the Jews who spit on Christians are being used to smear us… it is a “tradition” that I never heard of… and it’s giving ammo to our enemies!)

Now, is it true that there are Arabs that are kind and loving?  Yes.  But in the latter case, they do seem to be in the vast minority:

Only one in three Palestinians (34 percent) accepts two states for two peoples as the solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, according to an intensive, face-to-face survey in Arabic of 1,010 Palestinian adults in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip completed this week by American pollster Stanley Greenberg.

There’s a really good book that I’m partway through… A Conflict of Visions by Dr. Thomas Sowell.  It is NOT an easy read, but it highlights the vast differences in the two competing world views that are behind so much of divisions in the world, both present-day and historically.  One of the key differences is that one side, the “Unconstrained” side, believes that people are basically good.  The other, the “Constrained” side, makes no such naïve assumption.

“Testimony from previous rounds of fighting in Gaza has indicated that Hamas conducts military activity from within hospitals, mosques, churches and schools, or from areas adjacent to them. Is Israel Really an ‘Apartheid State’? – PJ Media

The short answer: No. (Bolding added):

Why, then, has the “apartheid” smear become so common among haters of Israel? Because it plays on Western traumas about racism and serves as a shorthand way to demonize the Jewish state without having to bother with actual evidence. The primary evidence that those who claim Israel implements apartheid policies bring forth when they offer any evidence at all is that Israel has built fences between Israel proper and the areas under the Palestinian Authority, and Palestinians who work in Israel have to pass through checkpoints, some of which involve long lines, to get to and from work.

These measures are in place, however, not because of racism on Israel’s part but because so many Palestinians have victimized Israel in jihad attacks. The leftists who denounce Israel for being an apartheid state would see it rendered defenseless against those who have repeatedly vowed to destroy it. That’s likely the whole idea.

More (from a link in the above):

Marc Lamont Hill Appointed ‘Presidential Professor’ At CUNY, No One Objects (jihadwatch.org) (italics replaced with underlining):

When Hill called Israel “an apartheid state,” he failed to provide any examples of its “apartheid” policy. And in the seven years since, he has not produced a single example of that “apartheid.” For there are none. In Israel, Arabs sit on the Supreme Court, serve in the Knesset, go abroad as ambassadors. The chairman of Israel’s largest bank, Bank Leumi, is an Arab. Jews and Arabs work in the same factories and offices, play on the same sports teams and in the same orchestras, act in the same films, are treated in the same hospitals by both Jewish and Arab medical personnel, attend the same classes in the same universities. Jews and Arabs own restaurants and start high-tech businesses together. The only difference in their treatment is that Jews must, while Arabs may, serve in the military. I doubt that Marc Lamont Hill knows any of this, or if he did, that it would make any difference. About Israel’s wickedness, his mind is made up. Don’t confuse him with facts.

TREADING ON THE POLITICAL

Hamas and amoral clarity – Victor Davis Hanson (jewishworldreview.com)

The Biden administration has blood on its hands.

As soon as President Joe Biden took power, he resumed massive subsidies to radical Palestinians, canceled by the prior Trump administration.

He ignored warnings from his own state Department that such fungible moneys would soon fuel Hamas terrorism.

His administration dropped sanctions against Iran, ensuring that Tehran would enjoy a multi-billion-dollar windfall to be distributed to Israel’s existential enemies — another fact well known to the Biden administration.

If the Biden administration had announced overtly that it was rabidly anti-Israel, it would be hard to imagine anything it could have done differently from its present nihilist behavior.

The amount of support being given to Hamas by the US, while clearly there are people suffering, is going to get diverted.  Like concrete was.  Like water pipes were.

Obama, Iran and the Road to Gaza | Frontpage Mag

The Hamas atrocities in the last day of the High Holy Days were a direct result of Obama’s foreign policy which empowered Islamists and undermined American allies. Hamas was the beneficiary of not only regular rebuilding programs after every clash with Israel, but of the newfound wealth and power of Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Obama had corrupted both America and Israel into adopting the worldview that Islamic terrorism could not be defeated, only managed by making deals with even the worst possible terrorists. Hamas was treated as a rational actor which could be co-existed with as long as it had something tangible to gain from avoiding conflict. This same philosophy underlay the massive aid programs to rebuild Gaza after every war which provided Hamas with weapons and money.

This didn’t start with Obama.  But it did get tacit support.

MISCELLANEOUS

There’s an awful lot of talk about “Khazarian Jews”… but apparently, little evidence genetically:

No evidence from genome-wide data of a Khazar origin for the Ashkenazi Jews – PubMed (nih.gov)

Employing a variety of standard techniques for the analysis of population-genetic structure, we found that Ashkenazi Jews share the greatest genetic ancestry with other Jewish populations and, among non-Jewish populations, with groups from Europe and the Middle East. No particular similarity of Ashkenazi Jews to populations from the Caucasus is evident, particularly populations that most closely represent the Khazar region. Thus, analysis of Ashkenazi Jews together with a large sample from the region of the Khazar Khaganate corroborates the earlier results that Ashkenazi Jews derive their ancestry primarily from populations of the Middle East and Europe, that they possess considerable shared ancestry with other Jewish populations, and that there is no indication of a significant genetic contribution either from within or from north of the Caucasus region.

Who Buys A Luxury Beach Home For $2.75 Million IN CASH? … Joe Biden, That’s Who

Granite Grok - Mon, 2023-10-23 21:00 +0000

It’s called money laundering. Shortly after Hunter shook down the Chinese for millions, Joe buys a luxury beach home for $2.75 million IN CASH. There ALREADY is enough to have impeached Joe dozens of times over. But who are the GOP “leaders” telling us is the “real enemy” … Matt Gaetz and the other actual Republicans who deposed Kevin McCarthy because they have caused “chaos,” which is a lovely euphemism for slowing the gravy train to the Ukraine.

Biden is the MOST corrupt President IN HISTORY. Yet so many GOP “leaders” are either opposed to impeachment or are dragging their feet. Ask yourself why.

2023: NH Ranked Safest State in the Nation, Again!

Granite Grok - Mon, 2023-10-23 19:30 +0000

I wasn’t looking for any recent state rankings or research on crime and safety, but Massachusetts has responded to the Bruen decisions with restrictive legislation meant to “display an unwavering commitment to ensuring that Massachusetts remains one of the safest states in the country.”

Have you now? One of the safest? Fine, you made me look!

You will not be surprised to know that Constitutional Carry New Hampshire, with some of the fewest anti-second Amendment laws, was the number one safest state. Again!

Maine, which is starting to slide but continues to allow unpermitted carry, was number two. Vermont, which is working to undermine the Second Amendment as quickly as it can, landed third.

That’s been the case for years. Three Con-Carry states. Three safest states. And Democrats, some from Massachusetts, moved into all three and have been working for longer to take that distinction down.

Vermont will start to fade soon, and Maine will take longer.

Massachusetts ranks number nine on this survey, so one of the safest isn’t a stretch. But if you want to lower crime, economic opportunity, affordable training wages for unskilled labor, and low poverty are relevant. There’s no evidence that disarming law-abiding citizens makes a state or city safer, and absent balanced numbers all around, having fewer gun restrictions isn’t either.

As for New Hampshire, it has a history of low murder rates, a highly educated population, low poverty, and low crime overall despite Dem-run cities like Manchester working hard to wreck it for the rest of us. According to the data crunchers, “Seems like the biggest crime here is NOT being an annoying Patriots fan.”

Good luck finding any of those this year.

Massachusetts? According to these folks, they have the lowest property crime in the nation, but this is the first time the Bat State cracked their top ten (which happened post-Bruen, by the way). But it’s not all good news. “What kept The Bay State from finishing higher? A surprisingly high violent crime rate. While still below the national average, 19th most violent cuts it close.”

That’s instructive.

Chicago, one of our poster children for Democrat Gun grabbing and violent crime, is one of many dangerous cities in America. There are plenty of places where the crime rate is higher, but few that can put up the body count of the Windy City. This makes it ideal for any discussion about the relevance of gun restriction on law-abiding citizens as it relates to “an unwavering commitment to ensuring that[ insert name here] remains one of the safest states in the country.

Gun restrictions can’t prevent homelessness, indiginacy, fentanyl, and human trafficking, or an impossible swell of illegal aliens who have no connection to the culture or language. Progressive states can’t even teach American kids to read English. Their welfare systems see more people slip through the cracks into poverty. Unemployment programs support listlessness. High minimum wages prevent skills acquisition by the untrained. It is a system designed to fail where people find the only way to get a hand up is to lift a hand  (knife, bat, or gun) and take something from someone else.

Disarming the law-abiding citizens who might otherwise try to help people outside the failed system is going to produce victims by encouraging criminality.

“While Massachusetts annually ranks as one of the safest states in the entire country from gun violence, the Supreme Court’s Bruen decision nullified existing components of our gun laws, threatening the safety of the Commonwealth’s residents,” [Rep. Ronald Mariano (D-Quincy)] wrote in an Oct. 19 post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Rep. Marino is a good Democrat. Job one is to get the guns any way you can; Second Amendment common sense (or even evidence) be damned. And his well-educated, above-average income constituents probably agree. It is also easier to pretend you are doing something than pay attention to the real problems, especially when your actions will worsen the problem.

That’s what this is.

Is America On Life Support?

Granite Grok - Mon, 2023-10-23 18:00 +0000

I have always been an ardent believer in democracy–The dictionary defines democracy as the rule of the people. Even at its best, “democracy is the worst form of government except for all the rest,” according to Winston Churchill. Is democracy a terrible form of government?

Does it hold the threat of destroying humanity’s most precious right – liberty?

In the so-called democratic societies, a semblance of democracy hobbles along with fits and starts, always on the verge of complete subversion and collapse. For instance, Western democracies are representative democracies where ordinary citizens do not rule. A representative democracy is, in effect, a plutocracy where money, people, and powerful interest groups lead.

The society’s rulers form a pyramid. At the base of the pyramid, we have the closest thing to democracy. The individual citizen has some sway over the locally elected officials such as the sheriff, the mayor, the city councilman, and the like. As we go up the pyramid, the voice of the individual citizen diminishes while the influence of money and power groups expands. It is a fact that, without funds, one cannot even run for the city’s animal control officer. At the very least, the aspiring candidate needs money for posters or handbills to make himself known to the electorate and argue why they should elect him, not his opponent.

The point is that it takes enormous amounts of money to become a part of the pyramid. And not everyone is a billionaire with a bottomless pocket and the willingness to tap it. Bottom line: If you aspire to become a part of the ruling pyramid, you require funds commensurate with the position you seek.

The US Constitution does not use the term “democracy. The United States is a representative republic. A republic if we can keep it, said Benjamin Franklin. It is a republic in which the people do not openly elect the president.

But as the recent events unfolded, I couldn’t help but feel like the system I had once held in such high regard was crumbling around me. The naked truth is that many politicians are paid agents, dancing to the tune of lobbyists and special interest groups. It is a harsh realization, and I am disillusioned and annoyed.

Democracy is the guardian of liberty. Embedded in a democracy are provisions that can make it implode from within. Democracy also has its guardian: A resolutely vigilant, proactive, and ethical citizenry.

Money’s influence in politics was deeply entrenched, and it would take years of continued effort to root out corruption and restore our democracy to its proper form.

Reflecting on my journey, I realized that being an ordinary citizen did not mean I was powerless. I learned that I could make a difference by shining a light on the dark corners of our political landscape and supporting those willing to stand up for the people.

Ultimately, the naked truth was that our democracy was a fragile and imperfect system, but it was also a resilient one. It could withstand the onslaught of corruption and greed if enough of us were willing to fight for it. I hoped that others would join the cause and that more ordinary citizens would rise and hold their representatives accountable.

So, I leave you with a call to action. If you, like me, are disillusioned with the state of our democracy, don’t despair. Get involved in politics, demand transparency, and hold your representatives accountable. The power to shape our nation’s future lies in the people’s hands, and it’s time we took it back from the puppeteers of democracy.

What can be done? Is there a way of resisting and reversing the imminent assault on our most cherished right of liberty? Here are some suggestions.

  • Become an active worker of liberty instead of passive, non-caring devil-may-care nihilists.
  • Use the political process, while it is still responsive to the demands and wishes of freedom-loving people, by supporting laws that guard freedom and reject those that infringe on liberty.
  • Actively support political candidates who are deeply committed to the tenets of freedom.
  • Run for office, any office. Please encourage your friends and other liberty advocates to pitch in and help in any way they can.
  • Hold to account those politicians who sell themselves to lobbyists and special interest groups.
  • Be an active educator by informing others about the creeping danger of Marxism.
  • Resist any and all WOKE philosophy in schools and the workplace.
  • Contribute money, small or large amounts, to causes and individuals who are fighting to preserve liberty. As the old saying goes, freedom is not free.

In short, liberty is our most prized possession, and democracy is the shield that protects it. Yet, this shield of democracy is vulnerable and needs to be repaired and strengthened regularly. I am calling on you, the individual freedom-loving person, to play your part in the defense of freedom, not only for your own sake but also for mine and all others who cherish this precious blessing of life and generations to come.

Legislation Could Trigger New Hampshire Secession Before 2030

The Liberty Block - Mon, 2023-10-23 16:24 +0000

Legislation filed by Representative Jason Gerhard (R-Northfield) would place a question on the ballot for the voters of New Hampshire. If approved by two thirds of voters, the New Hampshire Constitution would be amended to say that the state will declare independence if the federal government accrues a debt of $40 trillion. As of 10/13, the US debt is $33.5 trillion. In 2020, the debt was under $27 trillion.

Supporters of “Palestinians” Have Free Speech Rights Too!

Granite Grok - Mon, 2023-10-23 15:00 +0000

Without wading into the numerous points surrounding the debate about a thing called ‘Palestine,’ or any “people” alleging indigenous status, or who did or started what, when, and why – we’ve plenty of that just about everywhere – there is something else to discuss.

Free Speech.

One of the advantages we have over the left is that we’ve never told them to shut up. We encourage them to talk. To exercise their right to provide us with an endless stream of material upon which to write. We do it because it amuses us, their right to be wrong. And it is the same as everyone else’s.

We do not block their speakers on campus or anywhere else. Armed hooligans in black block do not drop by to scare away audiences. We show up and report on their words.

That right applies to everyone around here. You do not have the right to infer injury or death, but almost everything else is reasonable. That would include expressing support for “Palestinians.” You’ll get some pushback, so be prepared to defend your arguments – and we request that everyone refrain from vulgarity and personal attacks – but have at it.

Here, there, everywhere, well – not everywhere. Sadly, much of the world has taken the Hamas attack on Southern Israel as an excuse to suppress speech. Pardon the long pull quote.

There’s a lot of that right now, lurid claims of graphic and pointless violence directed against the innocent, most of which survives just long enough to cause some outrage before being “debunked” or walked-back.

Part of that is the general “fog of war”, heightened by the advent of social media. When a lot of people can talk a lot more is said (good and bad).

But there’s another interpretation: That fake war stories are being intentionally seeded onto social media and then “debunked” to discredit platforms and appear to justify digital censorship. …

It’s not just “misinformation” either, but also “hate”. In an unusually subtle headline, NBCNews warns of the “increasingly fraught nature of online speech”. USA Today is more on the nose, claiming “online hate” is “surging”. …

In the UK and US pro-Palestinian rallies were met with calls for the police to get involved, citing laws that outlaw the public support of “listed terrorist organizations”.

UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman has told the police that waving a Palestinian flag could be considered a crime. Metropolitan police are engaging in “reassurance patrols”.

In France the police are already more directly involved, shutting down a pro-Palestine demonstration.

…and people applauded.

The Globalists are, without a doubt, using their digital dens to muddy the online waters, and they are not shy about the goal of regulating the internet to regulate (silence) speech. None of that is theoretical, and we are past reasonable doubt. Every day has a crisis, and none of them go to waste.

European Union Commissioner Thierry Breton sent warning letters out to every major social media platform, claiming they needed to “combat disinformation” regarding Israel and threatening them with fines.

In yet another blow to the “China is on our side” narrative, Chinese video-sharing service TikTok has eagerly agreed to “combat disinformation”.

Students from Harvard and Berkeley have been threatened with “blacklisting” for voicing support for Palestine.

German and French police are breaking up pro-Palestine demonstrations, while – in both the UK and US – there are calls to arrest people for waving Palestinian flags, or deport those who “support Hamas.”

Another excuse to normalize government suppression of speech.

The cowards at Message Control Central don’t want free and open debate; it is, therefore, incumbent on us to demand it, even if we dislike or disagree with the message. You don’t have to listen, but you should speak up against the suppression of peaceful conduct or the idea that people congregating around a message are, by default, a threat to public safety, even if that is how they might treat you.

We can’t permit the government or anyone else to suppress public speech on these terms. That goes for peaceful association and protest as well. And I mean peaceful, not BLM Antifa peaceful.

Once they take it, they will never give it back.

Election Laws Have Been Changed without Our Consent

Granite Grok - Mon, 2023-10-23 13:30 +0000

What is the role of the Supreme Court at the state or federal level? The U.S. Supreme Court’s official website says, “First, as the highest court in the land (or state), it is the court of last resort for those looking for justice. Second, due to its power of judicial review, it plays an important role in ensuring that each branch of government recognizes the limits of its own power.”

The oath of office for every New Hampshire civil employee includes,

“I do solemnly swear that I will bear faith and true allegiance to the United States of America and the state of New Hampshire, and will support the constitution thereof. So help me God.”

Dan Richard, a constitutional scholar from New Hampshire who has brought a case against the state, claims that our election laws have been illegally altered by the executive or legislative branches over the years without the consent of the voters, thereby making them unconstitutional.

We want to thank Robbin MacVittie for this Contribution – Please direct yours to Editor@GraniteGrok.com.
You can review our ‘Op-Ed Guidelines‘ on the FAQ Page.

Since all government employees are bound to uphold the constitution, both federal and state, the rules, according to the New Hampshire Constitution, Part 2, (Art.) 100, cannot be changed without a two-thirds vote of Granite State voters. Richard’s case alleges that such significant election changes have been implemented in New Hampshire without the consent of the citizens, going as far back as 1942.

To illustrate, here is the original text of the NH State Constitution, Part 2:

(Art.) 30. (Inhabitant Defined.): “And every person, qualified as the constitution provides, shall be considered an inhabitant for the purpose of being elected into any office or place within this state, in the town, or ward, where he dwelleth and has his home.”

But in 1976, the wording was unconstitutionally amended to read,  “…where he is domiciled.” This changed the definition of not only who can hold office but also who is considered an individual who can vote. Without the consent of the voters, this opened the door for those college students who pay out-of-state tuition, for example, to vote in New Hampshire elections.

Part 1, (Art.) 11, deals with “Elections and Elective Franchises” and has been amended several times without the “consent of the voters,” most significantly in reference to absentee ballots. Originally, every absentee ballot needed to be in a sealed, signed and notarized envelope to ensure that absentee voters were verifiable in the same manner that in-person voters were, for equal protection under the law. Prior to 1979, any absentee ballots without notarized signatures were rejected.

Richard points out that since then, un-notarized absentee ballots have been unconstitutional and should not have been counted.

Meanwhile, voting machines were first introduced in New Hampshire in 1979 on a “trial” basis. Richard points out that Part 2, (Art.) 32, of the NH State Constitution, requires the moderator in each voting district to “sort and count” the votes in order to certify the results. Machines can usually count the votes but cannot sort them. That needs to be done by a human being, specifically the moderator.

And the reliability of voting machines has been called into question by instances like the recount of votes and audit of voting machines after the 2020 election in Windham, which demonstrated wide discrepancies, particularly due to folds in absentee ballots. Certain states, like Massachusetts and Arizona, have adopted the use of voting machines by having them authorized by the consent of their voters.

The State of New Hampshire has not.  So far, the state Supreme Court has put off addressing these concerns, which are very important for the integrity of our voting system.

Why?

College of Physicians Reccomends MAiD for Children Up to a Year Old

Granite Grok - Mon, 2023-10-23 12:00 +0000

My apologies for revisiting this topic so soon, but this was impossible to pass—the grotesque institutionalization of post-birth abortion as a kindness. Ethicists have long proposed letting parents end their young children, but ‘experts’ are asking permission to call it assisted suicide.

Sort of – from Igor Chudov.

I apologize for using the oxymoronic term “assisted suicide for babies” in the title. An infant is not self-aware and cannot “commit suicide.” Infants want to live, eat, and be held by their parents. And yet, the Quebec College of Physicians wants to expand the Canadian “Medical Assistance in Dying” program to infants.

Chudov notes plenty of issues, not just the fact that infants -even one-year-olds – are capable of understanding what life is such that they could request someone end it. And how no one knows how they sense or perceive pain, not really.

He also has details about characters who appear to love the idea of encouraging approving requests to die. These angels of mercy death must be beside themselves over such good fortune. Not only are governments embracing assisted suicide – medically assisted dying – but they are also broadening its reach.

And, as we’ve noted in several pieces, this newfound love of medically assisted death has done wonders for the availability of healthy organs for transplants. Despite being equipped with a growing DNA record of the populace, a political enemies list, a surveillance state, and the legislative authority to convince almost anyone they need to die, no one should be concerned. Noting inappropriate could possibly happen when the compassionate state needs a heart for a ranking party member or one of their children. Sorry, did I type that last part out loud?

Nothing to see here. No slippery slopes as far as your donated cornea can see.

Note: Experts in Quebec have also suggested that assisted suicide is appropriate for the homeless and the poor. What’s next, people who don’t speak French?

The voice is (obviously) the translator.

Back in August, Steve Counseled This: “If You Support Mike Pence You Should Maybe, Probably Stop …”. And?

Granite Grok - Mon, 2023-10-23 10:30 +0000

Back in August, Steve counseled this: “If You Support Mike Pence, You Should Maybe, Probably Stop …“. Me, too, by the way. The result? Too many of you listened, heard, and took that advice (heh!).

Emphasis mine, reformatted:

With three months to go before the Iowa caucuses that he has staked his campaign on, former Vice President Mike Pence faces mounting debt and lagging poll numbers that are forcing questions about not only whether he will qualify for the next debate, but whether it makes sense for him to remain in the race until then.

The former Veep is in the second tier of Republican candidates at 3.8% in the aggregated RealClearPolitics polling as of Saturday. In contrast, Trump is at 59.1%

Pence ended September with just $1.18 million left in his campaign account, a strikingly low number for a presidential contest and far less than his rivals, new filings show. His campaign also has $621,000 in debt — more than half the cash he had remaining — and is scrambling to meet donor thresholds for the Nov. 8 debate. While he would likely meet the debate’s polling requirements, Pence has struggled to gain traction and is polling in the low single digits nationally, with no sign of momentum.

Former President Donald Trump, meanwhile, is leading every one of his rivals by at least 40 points in national polls and ended September with $37.5 million on hand.

Let’s face it – the electorate, thus far, is not enamored with an Establishment GOP guy who folded like a cheap suit when the pressure was applied (by the militant gays and corporations that threatened him after he signed the Indiana Law that protected religion).

I understand that he’s a nice guy in person, but I want a brawler out in front of me. Not the living physical embodiment of a cartoon character, Race Bannon, who doesn’t measure up, doesn’t live up even to the cartoon with respect to courage.

There are always those who linger too long in politics, just like former stars in athletics who stay in the game well after their prime. Yes, some for the money, but others still believe they’ve “got it” for one more go-round until Life cleans their clock. Finally humbled, they are forced into retirement.

Pence should take a hint. So should Asa “Who? Why?” Hutchinson at 0.4%.

And WHY is Sununu, given his “Anyone with >5% polling approval should drop out,” still squiring around Chubs “I’m Establishment too!” Christie.Christie. Is it because he is another Never-Trumper? Can there be any other reason?

Music And Friends Were A Needed Relief

Granite Grok - Mon, 2023-10-23 03:00 +0000

The last few months have been stressful and frustrating as a conservative American. Actually, the previous three years have been challenging for anyone who loves this country and is angered by Joe Biden. He and the Democrats continue to make bad decisions that are turning every aspect of American Life to mush.

Whether the economy, division, foreign policy debacles, or the utter destruction of our sovereignty, no component of American life is better than three years ago. I have been writing articles daily documenting my assessment of our country’s direction for the last 1,100 days. Being constantly tuned into the news cycle can be a blessing and a curse. It is my choice, and I am not looking for sympathy, but Saturday night was a relief from the tedium.

We gathered eight friends, and the ten of us enjoyed a wonderful dinner and a night of live music. We went to the Casino Ballroom on Hampton Beach, an iconic entertainment venue, and took a step back in time. We listened to the tight sounds of Voyage, a Journey cover band that had the packed house singing and dancing for a couple of hours. The night was a much-needed respite, letting us forget the reality of life for a few hours. The beat of the drums and the lively licks on the lead guitar replaced the sights and sounds of artillery shells hitting their targets in Gaza and the drone of Joe Biden telling us how much more of our money he needs to give to Ukraine, Israel, or Gaza. The excitement and friendship of the night were a welcome break from the sad story perpetrated on the American people by the Biden Administration.

I shake my head in disbelief at the 20% of the population who think we are in a better place today than three years ago. Ignorance or blind faith? You tell me what these people are thinking. They certainly are not living in reality. Ask the majority of people, and they will give you their reasons why this train is on the wrong track. The reasons are endless and discouraging. How can we take power and prosperity and turn it so quickly into soured milk? That is Joe Biden’s singular accomplishment and why his legacy will be of a failed political life and Presidency.

So we took a break on Saturday night. It’s ironic the band was covering the music of Journey, for that is what we are sharing. Looking out on the filled room and watching the unbridled enthusiasm was refreshing and exhilarating. The beat of the music and singing of the crowd was recharging, but then my mind drifted back to a similar scene a couple of weeks ago, halfway around the world. Those hundreds gathered to relax and enjoy the music as one had no idea that evil beings were lurking who wanted them all dead. How can harmony and pure evil coexist? It cannot, and that is why good people must finally turn the table and eradicate those who have no place in their hearts for love as they are filled with anger and hate. Hopefully, the thousands around the world who are protesting for the side of evil will be enlightened. We must show them they are wrong. That is our mission. That is our journey. Saturday night, we had music. Sunday morning, we returned to reality.

The Parasitic Rich Men North of Richmond

Granite Grok - Mon, 2023-10-23 01:30 +0000

Seemingly coming out of nowhere was the song “Rich Men North of Richmond” by singer-songwriter Oliver Anthony. Overnight, the laments of one man from Appalachia over the state of the American economy and government spread like wildfire.

In “Rich Men North of Richmond,” Anthony decries the declining value of the US dollar, the lack of accountability for those on Jeffrey Epstein’s client list, and the use of taxpayer dollars to fund obesity through food stamps amidst high taxation. Whilst one could deconstruct the individual issues pointed at by Anthony, it can best be understood by the song title and the chorus:

Livin’ in the new world
With an old soul
These rich men north of Richmond
Lord knows they all just wanna have total control
Wanna know what you think, wanna know what you do
And they don’t think you know, but I know that you do
‘Cause your dollar ain’t shit and it’s taxed to no end
‘Cause of rich men north of Richmond

The song is a lament about the poor state of America at the hands of these “rich men north of Richmond.” These men, of course, are none other than the politicians and bureaucrats of Washington, DC. Any libertarian worth their salt can both empathize and sympathize with the message. Government bureaucrats and politicians have racked up $32 trillion of debt (not including unfunded liabilities), have become involved in at least seven foreign wars since September 11, 2001, and devalued the dollar by more than 90 percent since 1913. It has hardly been easy to be in the working class since the advent of progressivism.

The explosion of Anthony’s song is a fitting time to discuss libertarian class theory, which provides insight into the very problems of these “rich men” and how they have led to the plundering of productive citizenry.

The first proper articulation of libertarian class theory is in Murray Rothbard’s book For a New Liberty, where he applies the theory of John C. Calhoun. This theory is that of the most basic conflict because of government: between those who are net “taxpayers” and those who are net “tax receivers.” The net taxpayers are, of course, those who are expropriated through taxation. They are the productive ranks of society who fall victim to the contradictorily named “progressive income tax.” They are those who receive less in benefit than they pay into the system.

The other side to this class distinction are the net “tax receivers” or “tax recipients.” These are those who generate their income from the state taxation apparatus: the politicians, the bureaucrats, government contractors, and propaganda class. These are the corporations that not only build and maintain the road apparatus but also the dreaded military-industrial complex and other various industries.

The university system, feeding off subsidies through federal student loans, would be another such industry. These industries survive not through a marketplace of free exchange but through government handouts. Politicians might be the most easily identifiable member of this class, taking not only a salary but also other benefits that come with controlling the monopoly on violence.

The tax recipient class is not the product of voluntary exchange, nor is it providing value to consumers; it is the parasite on the productive class of society. What the productive class provides to the average man, the parasitic class, takes through violence. It does not need to provide value to the average man nor is it receptive to the market price system—it is accountable only to the voting populace after years of its parasitism. This parasitic class provides no value, only extracting it from the better members of society.

Anthony’s “rich men” are this parasitic class. The parasitic class taxes every dollar Americans spend, receive and save. The parasitic class has overseen the dollar’s collapse in value. The parasitic class has expanded in its control of American life. The parasitic class does what every parasite does to its host: it drains it closer and closer to death. The struggles of Americans can be laid at the foot of Washington, DC. It has drained every productive force of society and has done so through taxation, borrowing, and inflation.

Even when no longer in office, the parasite class continues to feed the politicians. Thus enters the sect of the parasite class dubbed by Rothbard as “intellectuals,” though one could hardly claim many of them possess true intelligence. One section of Rothbard’s Anatomy of the State, titled “How the State Preserves Itself,” describes the intellectual sect:

For this essential acceptance, the majority must be persuaded by ideology that their government is good, wise and, at least, inevitable, and certainly better than other conceivable alternatives. Promoting this ideology among the people is the vital social task of the “intellectuals.” For the masses of men do not create their own ideas, or indeed think through these ideas independently; they follow passively the ideas adopted and disseminated by the body of intellectuals. The intellectuals are, therefore, the “opinion-molders” in society. And since it is precisely a molding of opinion that the State most desperately needs, the basis for age-old alliance between the State and the intellectuals becomes clear.

One institution of these so-called intellectuals are DC think tanks. These institutions pass themselves off as policymaking prescribers. They claim to adhere to certain principles that guide their prescriptions. But universities and think tanks often act as revolving doors for the political class. Look only to the failures of Anthony Fauci, who was offered a teaching position at Georgetown, or Lori Lightfoot, who became employed by Harvard University. Joe Biden, the current president, was gifted a center at the University of Pennsylvania and a salary of $900,000 per year. Biden did not teach nor assist as faculty; his only utility was association with the university. Even the greatest failures and most despotic of policymakers are fed by the system when they leave the policymaking life.

Out of the fifteen richest counties in the United States, five of them are in Virginia or Maryland surrounding DC. These are not counties that produce large amounts of consumer or higher-ordered goods. These are counties stuffed full of political elites, think tanks, bureaucrats, and military-industrial complex CEOs. These are not productive areas; they are areas that house parasites who feed off average Americans.

Americans lost $10 trillion of wealth during the 2008 financial crisis, which was the fault of the Federal Reserve. To the average American, things are not seeming to get better. Even today, inflation still rages at the official reading of 3.7 percent, making the cost of living higher than ever. The money of the CARES Act didn’t go only to Americans—it went to large corporations that needed to be bailed out.

The United States government sits as the perfect example of the Rothbardian-Calhoun class theory. The political “elites” that sit “north of Richmond” have taken the value created by Americans to line their own pockets. Through every mean, whether that be inflation or blatant taxation, the parasitic class has benefited to the detriment of all Americans.

Oliver Anthony is correct. The “rich men north of Richmond” are indeed hurting the common man. And Godspeed to his message of waking up many Americans to that fact.
